Well, considering that the 50mm f1.8 II costs about $140 (I think), and the new Raynox wide converter costs $330.

You in AP today?? i just bought my S3 IS this evening...:bsmilie: I reckon the built of the S1 is slightly better.. because the LCD hinges of my S3 is abit flimzy... Users of S3 pls check wherther yrs flimzy too??:think:

Yes, I also thought the built quality of the S1 was better. The S1 felt more solidly built. The S3 feels more plasticky, especially the dial at the top. The S1 was made in Japan. For a moment, I thought maybe the S3 was built in China. The S3 box is also not as professional looking as the S1 box. I have no problems with the hinge though.

The hinges actually is quite tight.. i mean the outer cover of the hinges.. abit flimzy.. and the LCD screen has slight back slash.. up and down...

The first ime i press the buttons, shutter, zooming.. i thought they are make in china too.. Then i see the sticker below.. Made in Japan... Canon's build qaulity declining liaoz:thumbsd:

Anyway guys to record movie at the highest frame rate and speed.. the kingston elite pro SD card is enough right?? dun need to buy kingston extreme..:sweatsm:

I half suspect that although the camera is "Made in Japan", the parts, or most of it, are made in China. I actually went to AP to buy the Canon PowerShot 430. Looks quite good on paper but when I held it in my hands, it did not feel right at all. Too plasticky, especially the on/off button. Then I saw Made in China at the bottom and I gave up.

Fortunately, on that day, the S3 arrived. I changed my mind and bought the S3 instead.

So, I am not the only one who thought the S1 was better built.

For the movie, yes elite pro should be enough.

Have that and a SanDisk Ultra II. Never had problems with either.

Hey i just notice that the color of the body of the S3 is actually of shiny grey .. But one thing i find funny is why the LCD screen of my S3 got 2 color tone.. the front of the LCD screen the body color is the same as the body of the frame.. where else the back of the LCD is pure black in color?? Can any S3 users confirm??:think:

that's an illusion. the absolute dollar may be smaller but look what you getting? my previous example of the canon teleconverter being $120-160, its two pieces of glass with no electronics and moving parts. you can buy a good 50mm lens with autofocus and everything for that money.

Definitely not. Over-priced and unless you get the highest range, the warranty is limited. I find Kingston the best value for money. 120x 2GB Ultimate at $103 to $105. Lifetime warranty.

And if you do come across a really cheap Sandisk, just be aware that there are plenty of fake Sandisk around.
