[ Post Event ] Your thoughts on the E-PL1

Then get one colour with the kit lens and another coloured body only :bsmilie:

Yeah, probably especially as nowadays my son wanted one each time when we're having our photography session (be it indoor or out...$$$$.....:bsmilie:)

Cos if that's the case, I can have my 14-42 lens mounted onto one E-PL1 and the other E-PL1 will be mounted with MMF2 + 40-150 lens ( I'm very sure this combo, won't miss any precious-moments...;) ) which means I'm likely to get just the E-PL1 'Champagne-Gold' Body-only:)

So, let's enjoy our E-PL1 and shoot-shoot-shoot.....Cheers bro!!!

Yup, probably right:dunno:(as I've not check it recently...)cos when I bought mine during few weeks ago at the shop, I was told Body alone not in SG yet:)

Btw, hopefully it'd be in now or at least in the mid of reaching our shore:bsmilie::bsmilie:

Another thing is that not sure whether will there be "Champagne-Gold" for Body-only-sets...?(Please lah.....have lahhh...hahaha)

on clubsnap, there is an epl1 diary which shows how much sharper is epl1 to gf1...wow.
steve huff says it has the best ooc jpeg ever.

but the price of the epl1 plus a vf2 will not be much different from ep2.
so i bought the ep2 - because it is just built better and more features, plus looks great.
the ep2 plus vf2 plus fast lenses is enuf for most of my shooting. i now have several fast cine lenses and luv it.

Error on the Steve Huff page and your flickr page, anyway, E-PL1 is sold without the EVF, and its pretty much a budget camera for consumers, personally, I'd just get the E-PL1 for the art filters and HD manual capabilities over the E-P2 but the E-P2 has a better built and seems more durable, the EVF doesn't bother me anymore, hahahah

Something good coming next week!

faster AF with new firmware. let's hear your thoughts after trying it out. i saw a youtube of someone comparing GF1 vs E-PL1 autofocus in a controlled test environment.

maybe someone can do something like that for a before/after firmware update.

Oh, found some sneak preview test from imaging-resource:

hmm.....so nice to know the improvements, Olympus:thumbsup::cool:

Big thanks to Headfonz and Olympus Singapore

A quick review :
1. Size
It feels better in my hands than the EPx, and about the same as the GF1. There is a raised grip that reminds me of the one on the E620. With the pancake lens, it could fit (tightly) into normal pants or pockets - as long as its not jeans!

The 9-18mm looks to be the same size as the 14-42mm.

2. Controls
The missing scroll wheel and additional function buttons did not bother me, and I liked the dedicated video button. I really missed the Super Control Panel from my E520 though. At least there was a dedicated EV compensation button.

3. AF Speed
I will say that it is good enough for me (I use single point AF), but not as good as the GF1. Tracking AF is pretty cool. With the adaptor, CDAF enabled lenses focus much faster than those without, but not as fast as a native m4/3 lens.

4. Conclusion
It is more of a beginner's camera than the EPx, but good enough for the more advanced user - provided they are willing to put up with minor inconveniences.

Depending on price, it will make a great entry into the m43 world (I just wish it came bundled with the Pana 20mm lens!)

agreed

Just want to add - the Super Control Panel can be enabled!

Is there a way to control aperture values in Video mode?
