Portraits of a young cat

14-month old male munchkin. :)
You have 2 very photgenic family members. And they look very happy, contented and very well taken care of.

I have 5 myself (ranging from 1 1/2 to 6 1/2 year old) so you can imagine the riot at home when all of them start to chase each other around.

thank you everyone. only 2 weeks into my dslr journey so i have lots to learn. :)

So cute !! :D what breed is this ?? local ? Stray ?? :D

is it a british shorthair?

erhmm, like i said earlier on, he is a male munchkin. you will notice he got tiny short legs. :)

haiz, may have to stop down to 2.8 as the images at 1.8 are very difficult to focus, have very small area of focus and extremely shallow.

thanks for all the comments and views. cheers!

Yea you can tell that only one eye is in focus here. I think f/2 might be ok if you pulled back a luttre father to aloow more DOF.

sooooocute! 2nd pic looks like an owl!

lighting and colours are soft and quite pleasing.

first time trying this - left the cam body on the floor to take this shot real low. had to contort myself to look into the viewfinder, pre-focus on the head and then shift to re-compose image. thanks to the very very stable floor :bsmilie: , althought shutter was 1/15, the picture came out pretty sharp. even my floor got the bokeh treatment. lol...

Your cat looks rumpled!:bsmilie:

Lovely pic, I like the reflection.

Its an intresting composition here :D

I tend to be stuck in awkward engles too. Perhaps instad of going for a full body perhaps just a tight face crop oriented vertically?

i'm leaving for bali later and my baby's not too happy!

trying to have those "accidentally-cropped-off" style of shooting. lol...

The photos are wonderful. I like the experiments with the reflections. Maybe read up a bit on the rule of thirds? And sometimes, framing the cat horizontally will work better.

The latest post titled "i'm leaving for bali later and my baby's not too happy" would be even better if had gone down lower and framed the full body, or gone closer. But anyhow, it's a really cute model you have there! :D

bro baby kailan,

i looked through your flickr. the cats are very cute! haha

regards,
tltan

Your photos does not appeal to me but the cat does. I just love her (female I hope).

I find that the softness applied due to the large aperture used for the picture is quite apt to emphasize the cuteness of the furbaby. hehe.

Scottish fold are cute!

A little lower down would have created more eye contact and made it a little beter for me :)

raptor, yeah... but i too shag to crouch so low. lol... sibei siong to contort. you must be super flexible oh! :sweatsm:

The cat is so adorable la :) Shoot at the highest resolution so that you can do some 'creative' cropping if necessary. Not easy to work with animals huh :)
