Pentax "star" lenses are the super high-end models. the DA Star series has better build, better glass, better coating, has SDM and is weather sealed.

FA series is the older version of pentax AF lenses (current version is the DA series). its full frame and has an aperture ring which allows it to be used with older film bodies.

Finally decided and purchased the 35mm Macro lens

hehe the AF is not as slow as i imagine it =p

now i wonder where can get a 49mm clip on lens cap.

haha thanks to all the senior for all the advice thus far.

Thought it is abit short for a true portrait purpose. Think it suits my current snapping moments ahha !

Don't worry. 35mm itself is an extremely versatile FL not to mention that the DA35 has macro capabilities.

i think the lens is capable of much sharper images if u step down a bit... use a higher F number instead of F2.8.

Actually I beg to differ, the sharpness of the DA35 is already quite impressive wide open, stepping down will improve it slightly but not substantially.

I think for the 1st pic the focus is not sharp on and dof is not deep enough and as for the second one, I think the shutter speed to too long to be handheld. Just my 2 cents

Yes. I agree with this explanation. There also seem to be a slight underexposure in the first pic. Can bump it up with some curve adjustments.

My Sigma 30mm F1.4 with K-x. This photo is taken under very low lighting but the light from the candle does help a lot...

Hehe yes all are test shots which does not do the lens credit.

First one is just to test max aperture vs my kit lens haha excited about having access to a new F Stop

Second pic when I rev, the car also shake so abit hard to keep a still shot esp with handheld but on my way back from funan, Just had a idea of capturing the sweep as I was driving home hehe so "Just do it" haha

Will try to match my skills against the lens. Now the lens is far superior to what my skills can yield

I notice my eyes get tired quite easily when trying to manual focus... is this picture consider passable in terms of focus?

Did some cropping of this pic.
