Which is exactly why half the beach resorts are owned by Germans there. Lots of mix blood kids too...

LOL, good idea!

I have met a pensioner from Spain living long term in Thailand. He's enjoying a good life.

If the German lady thinks she is poor, she has not seen the situation in other parts of the world.

Can the same be said for Singaporeans? Should "poor" Singaporeans migrate to countries that would make them more well off? :)

We can't use a third world proverty standard to compare it with that of first world.

Look at how clean her home is and especially the pristine linens.

The wealthy here don't even use table clothes. :bsmilie:

... after resding her story, i also want to appeal to our PM for help ....... :(

+1
Being poor is relative, and being poor doesn't mean you can't have pride in your home..
Kudos to her for maintaining her dignity and not just whining like a Singaporean ...

There's varying degrees of poverty. E.g., poor & unable to pay for heating during winter vs being poor and homeless, etc.
If we consider our local context we too have needy and low-income (nicer words for 'poor') people who aren't homeless. IIRC, recently there was even a single-parent family profiled in ST as 'needy' but could hire a maid. It looks strange on the surface, but if hiring a helper is what frees her up to work, at least she's able to struggle and work at being self-reliant vs relying purely on handouts.

Btw, Germany has homeless people on the streets too.

Also, there are a lot of so-called homeless who would rather sleep on the streets rather than to sleep at home.

So you cannot say that they have no homes. It's a preference
