Polypan f film in iso 100

( Polypan F is a surveillance film that is a cheap to buy, but has an iso of 50,
and the development time is like Ilford Pan F, one major difference is that
it lacks a anti-halation layer. this layer prevents light from bouncing back from
the camera back into the film. So one effect of NOT having this layer is that
light bulbs becomes abit brighter which looks like lens effect of "coma". Polypan f
comes in 90m or 152m which is a pain to roll as you'd have to break it up into
sizeable chunks to be loaded into the bulk loader. It costs around 30-50 bucks
for 152 metres (almost 500 feet!), i have around 4+ tins of PPF left, all purchased
from ebay).

I think i finally nailed the development time for polypan f pushed to iso 100.

I tested with 3 developers, hc110, rodinal stand and d76. A

As I develop mainly at room temp here in Asia, at around 30C, the time taken
is usually halved.

This usually creates huge grains, but since PPF is fine grained, the effect is
somewhat like FP4+, fine but still noticeable grains.

I noticed that perhaps due to the lack of the anti-halation effect,
PPF gives a shimmering effect to skin tones especially if there are
sufficient light on the skin.

The pictures below were developed in D76 in 1+1 dilution for 10mins@30c (or 20mins@20C)

with a lower contrast lens like the Summarit,
the effect is quite interesting as well.

pls bring a spare empty film canister with end of the film,

Ray , can i buy 2 rôlls of you? I can bring my own canisters. I would like to try them in my monochrome class. Please PM me.

i took the leap and used polypan f 50@100 for some portrait work,

the difference was the lighting with flash.

and skin tones.

the below pix was taken with the Hexar AF with PPF exposed at iso 100

way overdeveloped in Rodinal stand.

and scanned with the minolta 5400 scanner

hey raytoei,

How did you divide the larger roll to fit it into your bulk loader?

Thanks
