[Poll] Which canon lens that you guys regret the most after buying it?

Which canon L lens that you guys regret the most after buying it?

Results are only viewable after voting.

not to flame you but you regret buying that lens because it's not the lens for you and not because it's not performing as you'd expected...

it should be something like, "i regret buying 50L coz it's not sharp wide open & it has focus issue"...
Not burning with your flames ;) But the TS did not specify that it has to be a regret due to lens issue.

In fact, if I bought a L lens simply because it has a red ring, then I only have myself to blame if find out that its quality is not as good as expected. Red ring lust is no excuse.

No one should doubt the quality of Canon lens, basically you pay what you get... However, I lost count buying lens just because of the little red ring.. I bet ya all have the same feeling too..

so comes the golden question, Which canon L lens that you guys regret the most after buying it?

Vote and comment, cheers...

No I don't have the same feeling as you. No regrets on my L lenses, but rather my skills are still not at the 'L' level.

No regrets for any L including past ones such as 17-40 and 70-200 f/4 which i owned twice before.

Even now, still very happy and impressed with my Ls.

Perhaps this poll should refer to non-Ls.

No regrets on L lens purchases specifically; but more because they meet my shooting requirements rather than optical quality considerations.

I do have personal regrets on several non-Ls though:

Canon 85/1.8; Nothing to regret about its price/performance - its superb. But never really gotten round to using it much because I had the 135mm and a tele macro at the same time. A case of buying just to own every focal length.
Canon 28/1.8; Still thought the old Canon 28mm/2.8 (AFD) was a far better performer optically.
Canon 20/2.8; Was a good purchase until I got the 20-35/2.8L; realised that a zoom could perform better than a prime in this case; for a similiar size and weight.

And on a related note; lens that I regretted selling:
1) Canon 100-300/5.6L (best travel tele zoom)
2) Canon 80-200/2.8L (colours and sharpness is superior to the current generation of 70-200/2.8 in any incarnation)
3) Canon 28/2.8 (most value for money budget WA prime)
4) Canon 22-55/4-5.6 (most value for money travel WA zoom)

this is the regret i have... bought one copy sold it cos i cannot shoot wide open at f1.8 due to bad purple fringing issues. then later bought another copy again same thing but worst then the first copy. so gave up and stick to my 135mm.

So far, no regrets from buying L lenses, focusing is fast and the image quality is so much better.

U mean u regretted buying?

Sorry... typo, should be 75-300mm

Ahh...that lens wasn't very gd honestly so I went for Sigma's 70-300, but in the end upgraded to Canon's L version and never looked back. ;)

WHAT! It dropped in price??!? Oh well, it is still a great lens. :-)

this thread is for users who feel L lens are being over-rated.. eg sigma, tokina, tamrom which cost much lower but can produce L lens quality...

Dont divert traffic to your polls leh..

Not sure about 85L because I never used it before. I believe it is of superb quality but I chose Sigma's 85 f1.4 instead due to the ratio between pricing and quality. Again that is if you get a good copy of Sigma.

I love all my L lenses (I only have two btw) :D

But I am really hoping to have the IS version of my 300mm f4L though... not sure if that counts as regret after buying the lens.

Actually, despite so many good reviews, the 17-40l is the top lens people regret.. I had a 17-40l years ago, not satisfied with its sharpness while it produce nice photos with nice contrasts, ca etc..

I have 2470 and 100L macro, and I am happy with both lens. Plan to get 35L also

the lens i regret buying the most is a non L lens. EF-S 55-250 IS... as i seldom use telephoto for most of my shoots...
