interested parties can pre-order through me though.. but dunno how many sets can i get from Olympus when it's released for selling..
just so happen that im from M S color~ =)

hi Agent, is the price sg1488 or something like that, body only?
The usa price is usd999 body only. so it appears that SG price is rather high?
But maybe if we add shipment etc, then its about the same? unless I have a friend pick it up from the USA?
Anyway, please could you tell me the likely price so I may decide to pre-order. thanks

My first Olympus SLR was an OM10. It was silver. I kinda liked it and used it for 2 years, beginner that time. When I really got into photography, my next camera was the OM2n with TTL flash. Thats where I really appreciated Olympus SLRs. Both of these were silver bodies. The the dream machine came out, the OM4 with multi-spot metering. All of a sudden, my exposure accuracy on slide film became much better. Bear in mind in those days, you could not CHIMP. At that time, the BLACK cameras were the OM4, OM3, OM2SP and OM40. And the black models were just so Professional like. The Black finish was much better than the Black on the OM2n models which was really like Black paint that peeled off easily. After using Black, I think the black finish, with the accessory grips just look more purposefull, more stealth, and in the dark it is better hidden. So plus the muted shutter sound of the OMD, I think the black just suits better. I used the EP1 in silver and in the end, it was just too bright. Got the Ep2 in black and loved it. But the black ended up peeling off and now I have a sort of Panda version, which looks real seasoned, I like it. In summary, I think the OMD in black reminds me of the old OM4, OM4Ti black, OM3, OM2SP. Those were really good cameras so I would take the OMD in black. And I will get the portrait grip as well. The whole setup is so retro, angular with lotsa sharp edges, buttons and dials, like a Lamborghini Countach with add on spoilers, scoops and ducts. Man toy. Love it.

let's assume both US and Singapore give the same free give of MMF3.

In US, usd999 = $1250 for body.

In Singapore, body alone is $1488, so is more ex.
but if we were to buy the body + 12-50mm at $1700 which the 12-50mm itself already worth $550,
so basically body cost only $1150 in Singapore. logically everyone will buy the kit lens package.

But got to have patience to wait.... stock not in yet, 1st and 2nd shipment for silver already gone..... got to wait till May for 2nd shipment and hope they got "spare" stocks....

Hi everybody! Pre-order stopped already... those of u whom had answered my call and confirmed it.. well.. good news.. your request had been processed~~! =) now let's wait for the camera

wasted no gun metal instead of silver :D

the silver somehow disappoint me. it look very "fake" kind of feeling when I was trying. always a silver lover, but this around i going for black.

The black looks really nice. But my silver 45/1.8 on my black G1 looks REALLY strange.

just placed a pre-order with cathay photo for body with kit lens 12-50mm.. still avail with freebies either 32gb card or the mmf adaptor.
waiting for its arrival in april.
"exciting" wait now :P

You sure got people will buy the kit lens from you at 550? Personally, if someone were to sell the kit lens at 550, I won't even bother. In fact I'm not interested. So it's not everyone. Body only at 1488 is the RRP I think, wait till the frenzy is over and you can expect the street prices to be around 1200+

The shops are not stupid, they know majority only interested in body. So they priced the body according to RRP and the body + kit lens at street price. to draw those kan chiong people who have too much money to spare to buy the kit combo. Very soon you will find the kit lens dominating the BnS section. if I want, I believe I can pick it up at 200-300 after a while.

200 abit too optimistic. You sure bns will be at that price? :-P

Regardless of what you think the 12-50 will be a nice walkabout lens for some. For some it will be a nice wide angle.

regardless of the price, even 50 i also wont buy it. Rather save the 50 and wait for the 12-35 f2.8. maybe some will want it.

The 12-35 f2.8 is estimated to be about $1800. I am sure it will be better than the 12-50.

read alot about EM5. The fanfare of this tiny camera.

wonder how many bros here were formally from DSLR camp? Maybe 90% from this thread are formally a DSLR owner? LOL

Do you think that DSLR owners should be more excited about the E-M5 than point-and-shoot owners?

I am an ex-owner of Canon 60D and still own a S95. But I don't think I have been in the "DSLR camp" long enough to be a "citizen", so I should be less biased (especially against the EVF) than SLR owners who have enjoyed using 100% optical viewfinders for years. Previously I have spent years using point-and-shoot cameras. I started out with my father's Nikon film camera when I was a kid, and subsequently went through a number of digital cameras ranging from ultra-compact to superzoom.

I have been a DSLR user for over 10years and will still be... My DSLR shall be the main axe for my serious photography work.... However, I still look forward for the OM-D EM-5 to join my camera family.
