may I know if I am right about this..

a polarisation lense helps to
1) reduce the reflection off non metallic material...
2) create the effect of uniform blue color of the sky ???

and what other function ?
went to AP and ask for the price..

HOYA at $35..no brand at $20...
expensive hor ?

I just to point out that it is filter, not a lens.

Polarisers tend to be more expensive with bigger thread sizes. Even for Hoya polarisers, do note that they come in various grades, i.e. Std, Ultra, HMC and S-HMC.

just gotten a HOYA 52mm cir-polariser at John 3:16 for $34, just for price comparing.

oh..ya...should be filter...sorry about that mistake..

so which grade is the best?

and is the function I listed correct?

did you bargain ? anyway, I think I rather fed up with the attitude from AP...esp that tao face shortie...

think I will go CP tomorrow to ask..

Well he did say $36 at first, well their prices are rather the same from sales person to another.

still no one answer if I am right or wrong..

well, i 'll only use it next week, test and will let you know:p

You're right about cutting down reflection on non-metallic surfaces.

As for the sky, it depends. The filter does not necessary gives you uniform blue sky all the time. Depending on the direction of your subjects. Using a polariser with wide angle lenses will cause uneven polarisation at times too.

I think Hoya filters are considered reasonably priced. If you think they're expensive, ask about how much a Nikon or Singh-Ray polariser cost;p
