Zhang Jia Jie .... is absolutely beautiful ... :thumbsup:
Will be going to Jiu Zhai Gou in Sept ... will post them here when I come back
My father has been to Jiu Zhai Gou and Zhang Jia Jie, he commented that Jiu Zhai Gou is still the nicest place he visited in China. I wanna go jiu Zhai Gou too but i have phobia of taking planes and the alternative bus journey is rather dangerous.

Thanks. I was there in Sep 2005 on a group tour by CTC. Good time of the year with nice blue skies but no autumn colours yet though.Very beautiful pictures:thumbsup:

Hi guys, I'm planning to backpack in China for 2 weeks in October. I'm thinking to fly to ChenDu and join the local tour there. I have checked the travel websites(China webite), there are a lot of local tours in ChenDu which going to places like FengHuang old village, ZhangJiaJie, Yading, DaoChen, ShangGeLiLa, LuGuHu...ect. Not sure whether the local tour there is reliable. Any advice??
I had joined the tour in Chengdu, they are reliable. However, if you are going to rent a vehicle and get a driver, much will depend on your luck. I had a bad experience with the driver in Xinjiang.
It's much cheaper to join the tour in Chengdu than in Singapore. However you have to settle you own lodging and transportation when you reach Chengdu.
Check out this hostel run by fellow Singaporean(with his Japanese wife) in Chengdu. The hostel travel desk provide travel arrangement in China.

i thought the basic purpose of tour is having the transportation arranged.
I mean transport from airport to hotel/hostel. Usually the tour agancy don't arrange that.
Anyway, cab fare from airport to city is around 40 yuan. As for the tour, either the tour guide will pick you up at the hotel/hostel or tour group gather somewhere, usually at the bus station.
If you want a nice room with air-con and shower, there is this Fuwa(福娃
hotel at ZhiMingLu (致民路, near the XinNanMen (新南门 bus station. Per night is around 120 yuan for a double bed room. There are also other hotels in the bus station, but I not sure about the price.Djinn/napier,

Anyway, I'm going alone, it's flexible enough for me to choose whatever tour I like and stay as long as I want(probably 2 weeks) but will only budget ard $1600 for this trip. I'm also struggling in choosing one of the following tour:
1) Feng Huang village + JiangJiaZie
2) Yading + DaoChen + ShangGeLiLa + LuGouHu
3) JiuZaiGou
Pls advise whether the time & budget is sufficient for the above tour and which tour is the best?
