Pls, give suggestion for Nikon D60

of course,no longer production for D40,2nd one is good as well,it does not matter if you can check properly.In Vietnam,i'm from Vietnam,brandnew ones are still in stock.
The new released prime len 35mm/1.8G is considered as the must-have len for user of D40/D60.You can shot the most situation with just this len.Great!

i understand that D40 is already not in production. shld i get a 2nd hand D40 instead?
or any other suggestion?
also heard rumours that nikon gonna release new entry model @ similar price range soon.
anyone can confirm this?

With the amount of AF-S and HSM lenses available (not to mention future offerings from Tokina), you'll likely run out of needs (or money) before motorised lens cease to exist. For those who don't have diverse and dedicated interests in sports, portrait, or macro etc, one or two lenses is actually enough to grow your interest. Besides, D40/x/60 look unbalanced with huge lenses!

Since D60 is selling in the $850 region, I believe the D40 is about $600, if you can still find them.

I suppose from the B&S forum, the prices u mentioned above D60 - $850 and D40 - $600 are 2nd hand prices. Alot smart sellers quoting similar price for just bodies alone den kit lens selling separately... :bsmilie::bsmilie::bsmilie:

D60 kit (that's the one with the 18-55 lens) is retailing for about $850 BRAND NEW.
D40 is pretty much sold out in Singapore. I'm sure some resourceful people out there could still find 1 brand new though!

Hi, I understand D40/D40x/D60 only works with the AF-S n AF-I series lens to achieve autofocus. Will there be difficulty buying new lens of these 2 series now or in the coming near future? Also, is anywhere still selling new D40/D40x and what's e approx price?

AF-I lens if i'm not wrong is out of production already.
for AF-S lens, getting the lens is not a problem, but high end AF-S lens will burn a hole in the pocket...
d40 1st hand, you can try challenger funan see if they still have stock, else can try OP at SLS level 6 but just make sure you get the local set.

Singular = Lens
Plural = Lenses
there is no such thing as 'Len'

Note that these are listed retail prices, which means you'll get them cheaper from outside. For those looking for D40s, there is hope!

I am a super newbie in DSLRs. Just recently, with all the people who love DSLRs sorrounding me, I got influenced, and had a sickness in DSLRs. I was thinking for 2months with what camera I should get. And finally landed on D60.

Some of the reasons:

Cheap and good for beginners
Body is light and looks just right enough
Got enough features for starters
Lastly, because it's Nikon..

I am planning to buy one for me, I think I will get D60 with 18-105 VR, maybe this april or may. So, wish me luck guys..

Those who are having plans to get the D60 may want to wait a while to see if the rumoured D5000 which is supposed to give D60 or even the D90 a run for the money materializes. The touted date is 14 Apr and the D5000 is in D40/D60 form factor boasting 14MP sensor, 720p video and swivel/flipout LCD. Don't know the price though... There are even leaked pictures already, so I guess it might be good to hold your horses for a while. ;p
