Hi - my K10D n here r some of my shots when i was in Ubin documenting (videos&pics) of the songbirds. Good recomendation from Denis on the tokina 60-300 m, cheap & good but it took me awhile to understand the lens(newbie) Aspecially the tripod ;( i got a flimsy one free when i bought a digi camera - it didnt hold fast all my shots blurr:embrass:. Got the manfrottos o55cb it reach my heigth 1.7 :o - also new lens frm scorpion 50 f1.7 m

In Ubin forest gives u the sense of quite darkness n i chance upon subject which i feel show that 'quite darkness' but tech. cant do it w/ my lens(newbie) so i use the image viewer to darken n increase the saturation:

longko - now i know macro is no easy one...: so i will start with the whole flower and some leaves first. will learn to control the dof and focus (manual) technique before shooting insects.

sheewai - pulau ubin is really very ulu. dont think can find photographs like the car and bird in the main land!! nice try!

Every type of photography is not easy if u go into detail^^; Took me 1 big round (abt 1+ yrs) to start understanding how to get good bokeh. I'm still learning till this day how to improve my macro. That's why I enjoy my PP, I get to see my shots in details and how I can improve with next attempt.

My advise is take 1 step at a time. learn how to focus 1st, then compose, then worry abt lightings, then come bokeh.;)

Nice shots Sheewai... See that you are enjoying ur 50 1.7 <:

Nice shots, these Cosplay characters. Would be interesting to have been there!
Oddly, I do not recognise a single costume here....I would have thought there would have been some Bleach or Naruto characters..
BTW, the exposures looks ok to me even though you did not bring your flash..:)

ishou80, interesting pictures of people. I can't help noticing your pictures seem soft and low contrast. Don't know how the ambient lighting was but the WB also looks off. Tried using a custom WB?

ishou80 and iFoto bros, they are very gd attempts. It's always a problem in such events it's always crowded >.< I do agree with what creampuff on the contrast and WB. But if u do a little editing, u can make a diff in those shots.

I'd choosen this shot for editing, ishou80 hope u dun mind. Choose this shot cause... ahhhh... the costume has high contrast:bsmilie:

Edit: One easy way to correct color cast in photos is to use variations in PS. (Image > Adjustments > Variations)

Yeah, I notice the WB but not too sure how to adjust it manually =P Still learning and the last time I play with the WB I got a shock of my life as I dunno how to return it back to normal!

It was kinda funny as when I see the RAW file it looks bright but after I convert it to jpeg all change. Does convertion make the details and contract different?

Don't worry, we're all still learning. Pointed out so u are aware of the mistake commonly made by many (I also mess up the WB now and then^^; ). RAW takes the shot with no adjustment done. However, the JPEG on camera is affected by the sharpness, contrast, saturation, etc adjustments u had set.

BTW gd luck with ur match today^^
