Thanks guys for your kind comments! ;)

Think my niche is in b&w shots along the street, don't think i'd be good at macro at all, especially compared to the many great macro pictures posted here. Good to see that many of you still have a film body too! film's actually quite fun really, and it makes you think more before shooting - there are places where I visit again and again and think of how I want to shoot it before actually taking a shot - and sometimes I have to go back 'cos the picture's didn't turn out as I expected.

But there are fun and improvised shots too, like the girls on the swings, just whipped out, fitted the M135 and took ard 4 or so shots.. the anticipation of sending in the film for development to see if you've captured at least one good shot adds to the thrill of film. There may be diappointments, but that's life - and film photography - for you. :D

Fengwei, snowywolf, creampuff: I'd definitely switch to digital soon, but even after that I don't think I will let up on film - with film its not just the end result, its the entire process that's fun!! But I agree that shooting on digital's a fast way to improve, and I think I prob can get sharper shots, which for some reason's I can't get really good resolution on b&w film, even for ISO 50 - 100 films.

Heh. and the MZ -3's a wonderful camera, bernard is yours coming soon? :bsmilie: though your FF DA lens won't be able to function on in in Av priority mode, you can only use it on the Auto and Tv priority modes!

Des: heh, you're quite the film buff too, considering you been thru two K1000... not sure if I'd be up to handling a full manual camera, though that's the true old school way of shooting.

very stark contrast - but gives them an energetic feel, compared to a shot with more even contrast and tone

nice, great angle - along waterloo street right? ;)
Yes you're right. I was picking up someone and while waiting took this. Contrast was extremely high but salvaged it when I got back.

I read earlier that you're having difficulty getting good resolution on b&w film. If you want to attain the wide tonal range and sharpness, you've really got to develop and print your pictures yourself. Getting b&w processed by a lab or having your negatives/slides scanned, invariably you'll get high contrasty and often grainy images that have a very narrow tonal range. Learnt this the hard way many, many years ago.
