It is the fully manual Asahi Pentax K1000.;) Don’t think I will get back and use the electronic film cameras.

was contemplating getting a manual film camera to play with also ;) from what i've read the LX seems to be a very good choice.. but prices for good condition / limited edition copies are higher than the K100D, for instance. or even a 2nd hand K10D. The KX seems like a good idea too. Heh, if i decide to get one in the end will ask fengwei if he has any good deals haha:bsmilie:

One of my faves, taken using F 35 - 70mm/4 - 5.6 - the softness is due to the scanning, and not really the lens, which really isn't that bad.

What is it? I can't tell by looking at the photo

BTW, still not going for digital? You know, it's alot easier to shoot in digital ;)

Here's my contribution from film camera but not a b&w.:)

You guys want me to shoot film again ... BTW, who has a negative scanner here? I might shoot some film if you guys can help me scanning them

Its the winding staircase at chijmes, on a bright sunny morning - accounts for the nice highlights and long shadows

I'm definitely getting the K20D this year ;) waiting to see if they release different version :bsmilie:

I got the K1000 more for collections.;)

The LX is a good choice and a professional camera with dust and weather-sealed. I have seen the gold limited edition locally. My advice is, if you want one of those manual film cameras to play with, just get the cheaper KX or MX. Save that money on LX (unless it is really very good price) and you can get a digital.:D

I don't have a negative scanner as not worthwhile for me to keep one. I get the lab to burn into CD at 16 base.:)

Good advice. Better to buy even a used K100D than a used KX. Go get your feet wet in digital photography.

Resolution of digital cameras now is far higher than 35mm film. Not only that, there are so many variables involved to process and to digitise the images that imo it is not worth the effort nor the time to shoot 35mm film. Frankly with 35mm film, I can't really see any significant difference if a shot was taken with an FA31 or a consumer grade zoom because you're never going to be able to get the most out of it unless you stringently shoot, process and print the images at a decent size yourself. I did that many years ago and I can tell you I can do more today digitally now than ever before. The difference using good glass is more telling today.

LX was the professional Pentax SLR of yester year. And it is still a highly regarded camera. It is not easy to find good quality manual film camera in sgp. MArket base is small and the camera body may be of poor condition due to our humid weather.

I have 2 piece of MX and 1 piece of ME Super. I still love my MX... there is even a hidden mirror lock up function... and the rest are history. :)

fengwei, you can get your negative digitialise at most of the photo lab all round the island.
