Quick n dirty portrait of my beloved..

Your question sounds kind of.. not right. :P

It's not all about the equipment; it's more about the chap behind the equipment.

Of course, in a sense, it's the equipment - it's far easier to do a marco with a good marco lens, to shoot a get a close-up of someone from a dozen meters away with a telephoto, to get a beautiful portrait with a 85/f1.4 than a 10-17 fisheye.

But give me the best camera and best lens, and I'll not get better photos than someone who has an lower-spec camera and not-so-good lens but who has more experience/practice, composition sense and that intangible thing called 'talent'..plus a whole host of other attributes such as the willingness to get up early to catch the light!

Some of the Pentaxians here have good equipment; some have only the basic stuff; but for everyone who makes good pictures, what they have in common are the skills, practice, determination and talent to go with their kit, whether costly or not so costly.

i agree the guy chap behind the equipment matters. i'm just wondering how much you guys spent for the equipments. just a rough guide coz pentax is more seldom heard of.

That's a really tough question to answer isn't it? Considering how everyone's gear is different. Won't go into a price discussion here as it's a pic sharing thread, but I'll suggest that you browse through the Pentax B&S to get an idea.

Hi Fren
Looks like you fixed your camera or got a similar replacement? :)
Thought would be an excuse to get the K-M instead. haha.

Anyhow, love the colours and detail on this one!

Thanks! These were taken a while ago, effective my K100D's last outing. In the end I took Denis' advice, I'm using a K20D now! ;)

Interesting retro-look shot, night86mare, and without your trademark 10-20 too! :)
The guy on the right looked like he was gesticulating about your camera?

yes, turned out he was not happy with me shooting him, he came up to me after the shot and started shouting, and tried to slap me.

quite a harrowing experience, but it's not as bad as it sounds, really. i misinterpreted his gesture as being a friendly one, didn't see his facial expression at time of shot.

:bigeyes:holy cow. Luckily you are ok. That's one reaon why I am so reluctant to take street shots of people. What people will do for their passion! ;p
