If you could get closer for 1:1 magnification, taking a bigger frame of the picture. Great shot and lots of other opportunities on housefly creating babies:bsmilie:

Same for dragonfly, try getting closer or cropped the unwanted right side off. Often we face breeze/wind and that is a challenge to capture the subject in sharp focus. Good shot anyway and more macro please
otc
I tried going for 1:1, but the DOF was simply too shallow to get enough of the flies in focus, so after a few attempts I gave up and shot from further away. The dragonfly was simply too far away in the pond, can't reach. :dunno:
We are all learning together. Me, too on macro..
Agree on the thin DOF and taking whole fly in sharpness is a challenge expecially fly is about 1 cm and dof is about 2 mm. Maybe taking at 1:2 magnification and having it cropped.

The shot taken without light and head being the area of focus. I quite like the background.
Dragonfly, a lot in toa payoh gdn and seletar reservoir.

I think next trip we need to go seletar for macro and sunrise...!!!
