Please recommend Cheapest Video Editing software for 5Dmk2.
Sorry pardon my ignorance and cheapness.
I'm looking for the cheapest video editing software that can trim, simple transitions like(windows movie maker), Joining of clips, encode into h.264 .mp4 formatt , Manipulate audio streams(add/trim/timing only).

I understand most software to do this will cost around SGD$400 up. Seriously looking at something below SGD$200
Currently i'm only using Mpeg streamclip from www.squared5.com
This only provides trimming / joining / transcode.

I also tried to transcode into something that works with windows movie maker. But cant seem to get the settings right.

Havent gotten to trial this software. Seems promising
1.) Dont need to transcode to other format from 5d native mov.
2.) Price is below 200 SGD.

you can try vegas studio platinum or something. THere is one version that is available sub-$200. It comes with limitations like only 4 video tracks or something, but should be more than enough to last u this time and for slightly more challenging projects

Vegas studio platinum cant run the tracks smoothly the preview is very jerky.

Pinnacle video-editing software.

Yesterday i got to download and try the corel software. Crashed a few times even though i had enough hdd space.

Will try pinnacle this weekend.

blurry, i didnt read that part of your message. ok here's the thing, 5dmkii natively shoots in h264 mov, which for viewing is fine but for editing is crazy - even professional software will have a hard time editing in h264 natively, unless you are running like a core i7 860+ with an advanced graphics card system.

one thing you can try is, go to the adobe website and download the trial version of premiere pro CS5, and using the adobe media encoder bundled with it convert all your footage into the "P2 Movie" intermediary. It takes quite a lot of HDD space but its faster and more efficient than using h264 natively

anyway for vegas, to improve the preview performance just get it to playback using 'preview-half' or draft quality.

IC thanks will try that setting

my desktop(C2D 2.4ghz @ 3ghz, 2gb ddr667, 8800gts 320mb O/C) can still pretty much handle the whole process well, albeit the preview gets kinda jerky at times.

Pinnacle video-editing software.

PINNACLE HD STUDIO 14 ULTIMATE, great software for H264 clips. I'm using an i5,4Gg RAM, 1Gb ATI Mobility video card, and everything runs smoothly, NO JERKS. Download and try the trial version and if interested, you can get it in POPULAR book shops or CHALLENGER stores for S$219.
