DSLR will be a better choice bcos you can change the lens for different environments shooting. You need to know what are the place you gonna visit during the vacation and prepare the lenses that won't fail you.

Sometime you may have to see who you are going with.

Due to laziness, I actually used my RX100 for holiday and some of the shots during a night market trip was not up to my expectation, mainly bcos my non-photography friends was rushing me to hurry up when I was composing the shots. :(

Depends if you'll have time to setup properly... and are you there for photos or for holiday?

I guess it also depends on your circumstances. If you are traveling with kids and have to jagar them and carry lots of stuff, then likely you'll find a DSLR will be quite troublesome. When I didn't have kids, I used to carry around an SLR in a camera bag and sometimes even a tripod. These days, a belt pouch is all I need, esp. with the quality and the portability of the RX100, you might be able to take more/better pictures on the move than having to struggle with a big unwieldy camera.

Play with Sweep Panoramic on MRT and got nice effects. It's like a fish eye lens with fps, haha!

Interesting shot.

I also tried this function while in Bali recently. While it's fun, I'm wondering at the usefulness of such pics, given that when displayed on a screen, the pic is rather small. Good just for the record, I guess.

Printing panorama shots is great for decorations

How big a print can such shots go up to? Many shops can print these sizes?

Not many shops. But yeah, they can print quite big. Just use the panorama resolution and a basic guide of 300dpi for a sample size. If you reduce to 150 dpi it becomes 4x larger in area (twice as long, twice as high).

Just got my rx100. Can ask other than transfer the picture to laptop or pc, any way to direct transfer to iPad or iPhone ?

Which are the common software use for simple editing like cropping, framing ? Thanks in advance.

Wow, very impressed of the pics. Was thinking of getting G15, but now might get Rx100. Wondering what is the best street price now? Tks.

Brought my RX100 to Chinatown recently. So many dslr but they thought mine was just a normal pns. But I ended with a lot of nice photos n also, having fun with the partial color mode. Turn out to be nice esp on red n yellow.
