Pictures from NEX 7, Thread III

Modern rendering will haf a very clinical high contrast look. Legacy Leica lenses r normally lower contrast but offer sharp subject but softer look. Probably u could view more Flickr pics of legacy Leica lenses output to judge better?

yeah I agree with bro Thoth normally old legacy lenses if you look hard enough you'll notice it renders different from it's modern counter part. If you look at modern lenses they are very technical in a sense the way they render the image sharpness, color etc... if you look at older lenses it has character.... you can compare them like an Engineer vs an Artist :-)

hahaha how to see modern n classic? hahaha i dunnoe how hahah. too mi sharp smooth bokeh =good lens

hard to find now a days maybe Leica lenses could give you that....

It's abt taste. Some love it. Some dun. Lotza new modern lenses gives u d clinical finishing n its not difficult to look ard n find them. CV, CZ, Sigma etc.

So bro how do you like the Cron rendering??? :-)

Not bad. But need to shoot more. Hahaha. Is ez to focus but I think the downside is the focus ring need to turn a lot If change from long focus length to short lol

Yeah true like in landscape and cityscape this is where modern lenses really shines and I like using them on these shots... street shooting, portraits I love the old rendering... sometimes the lens faults or imperfections that make's the lens character hehe... Like the lux-M rendering... even the lux-M 50 has that Lux-M 35 glow hehe... but use that lens to landscapes unless you want watercolor painting look then it's lovely.... else its horrid

sorry bro I have not used any of those brands modern lenses the most I used are AIS for Nikon and FL/FD for Canon....

Seen legacy lenses like zeiss n super takuma n Minolta having characters too. But build quality is often an issue n oso somewhat too fuzzy at times.

yeah heard a lot of great things about taks and super taks and also old CZ lenses specially those sonnar designs that Russian copied... I have few Rusian lenses and they seem to have their own characters also... not a perfect lenses but do renders the image nicely also... like the famous Jupiter series lenses...

Yeah that's the downside of R lenses but it gives you precision when you need it... it wont win in the speed department but when you want to be precise long throws will do that for you... it's like Macro lenses

Depends on wat u like bro. I'm a Bokeh guy. Zeiss is good for d pop. Tatz y I'm sticking to my planar 50/1.7. Pre asph lux m renders very smoothly though low contrast, very good for b&w. even on street, just stop down to f/2 n voila, sharp, higher contrast n still maintains a very little amount of glow somehow to give tat dreamy ethereal look. If I need sharp n clinical finish, there's alwayz XF35 for street n portraiture n CV15 asph 2 for landscape.
