NEX-7 + 70-300G . . . the slow zoom that never ceases to amaze . . . cropped at about 65% . . .

NEX-7 + CV 40mm f/1.4 at f/5.6 . . .

NEX-7 + 70-300G . . . lunchtime for one of 'em, but no paradise in the tree for the other!

regardless what monitor I look at these image (Windows 7 uncalibrated LCD or MAC) they are look awesome... I think A77 achilles heel is the translucent mirror....

I am not a pro on sensor size stuff, but I suppose the aps-c sensor on the nex7 will have a better edge over the omd's 4/3 sensor :dunno:

It might be on d sensor spec level but still, without "good enuff" lenses to pair the NEX 7, u wun get most outta d APS-C sensor I supposed. So the hunt for better lenses continues... LOL

You can grab a CZ24mm f1.8 which is "good enough" to pair with the Nex 7, though not as sharp and resolving as some of the M lenses. You have a Sigma 19mm, and Sigma 30mm is quite good too to complement it!

Try a Voigtlander Nokton 35mm F1.2 (must try the sharpest version II) and you will see the resolution of the Nex 7! Have a CZ24mm for general use (with AF) but for sharpness and bokeh, the Voigtlander 35mm F1.2 seems to be made for Nex 7 in terms of resolution and weight. Tested with Zeiss 35mm f2 which is similar in price, but Nokton is still sharper, from F2 onwards.

There are also other legacy lenses that you can try. With the adaptors for different lenses, I guess we should be quite contented with Nex 7.

Yes... Legacy lenses do have the resolution power to bring out the best in NEX 7. Loving the sharpness and bokeh out from my Zeiss Planar 50mm f/1.7. The sigmas are really good and sharp too for landscape and street shooting...

Indeed poisonous thread

Now I am torn between the Nex 7 and Olympus omd-em5

Both camera has its pros and cons. You just have to weigh which favors you most

yes still looking at both options, that's why i am still undecided.

Do a deep dive research on both systems. Go thru d pros and cons and base on what u need d camera for. Each has it's own strength and weaknesses. End of d day, U must love it and keep using it for quite awhile. Personally, I chose NEX 7 coz I love the accessiblity of the functions, especially when u need to customize some settings. Cheers.

Now that you mention it (out loud) bro, I agree. And I think Sony fudged a little (no, a LOT) when they assigned ISO values on the a77, in order to compensate for the amount of light the pellicle mirror draws away from the sensor.

I'll be on board for the next mirrorless, electronic front curtain shutter body that Sony puts out, whether it's APS-C or FF. But not for any SLT... ;p

More poison on the way shortly . . .

Bring it on. Gladly be poisoned... LOL

The Botanic Gardens' biggest celebrity . . .

"Just not pro enough" NEX-7 (shot at ISO800, cropped at about 40% with ZERO NR applied) with Pentax-A* 300mm f/4 . . .

Been hittin' the bottle again . . . .

. . . with Leica R 100mm f/4, the most toxic poison on earth. The only antidote for me will be the f/2.8 version . . .

Since you'll be using with mf prime lenses, will the focus peaking on the Nex be the deal breaker?

I see.

Decisions decisions decisions :bsmilie:

A couple more from the "just not pro enough" NEX-7 . . . both of these shot at ISO 3200, uncropped, resized, minimal NR applied.

MF shooting is a joy with this body due to the combination of focus peaking and viewfinder magnification. A marginally static subject and some patience can really bring out the potential of whatever lens one is using.

White-crested laughing thrush . . .

Oriental magpie robin . . .

Most local bird shooters (whose works are miles ahead of my humble efforts here) will probably know exactly where I was today! ;)

my eyes are painful bro your photos are uber sharp :-) awesome sharpness and details even at that ISO

Another one from the "just not pro enough" marvel paired with a "just not AF enough" manual lens . . .

Unavoidably backlit, but proof that motion shots can be done with MF . . .
