another round for the Jupiter-3 cheap FSU Lens . Took some street candits this morning while wifey at the wet market

Seriously Uncle (was affraid coz he seems pissed off after making a phone call)

This one uncle was walking towards me so I was trying to adjust the focus good thing the peaking is there to help not spot on focusing but close enough)

Just to add to this Jupiter-3 pix posted. I dont know if the UV-Haze multi coated help with the photos but seems much better compare to my previous shots without the UV filter.... Based on the serial number this lens was produce somewhere 1975 I think most of us that time haven't even started to go to school worst others may not be born yet. The lens seem there's no coating coz looking at it in an angle I dont see any color cast like other lenses during that era normally has a single coating like magenta etc.

Bro, I saw a Jupiter-8 50mm f/2 in a secondhand store the other day for about SGD70. Is that a reasonable price? Or is it one of those "too good to be true" deals? I didn't inquire at the time because I had just read somewhere in this forum that the 50mm f/2 is not sharp.

Yeah bro this lens is no Leica nor CZ even CV but it's good on its own merit Jupiter-8 is not sharp bro it's good for portraits like my Jupiter-3 there are times the contrast is poor specially at overly bright day it has some haze effect. For the price 70 bucks locally if good already I sold mine last time around 80 but mine was almost pristine cond I find it a bit hard to use on m4/3 that's why sold it. The Focusing is neither precise it's trial and error. Same as most of my Russian lenses comparing it with Leica the focusing is a bit hard to guage...

The only Russian lens I find the focusing the better and could be use for steert photography is my Zenitar M2s 50 f/2 this one bro the sharpness is very good the MFD is very short wonder if you use extension tube how close you can focus

Evil-bay the pricing is not constant you need to hunt/wait or good word for it stalk lolz 2nd you can only rely how true is the seller to his words. If you wish to buy from Evil-Bay you need to check if the seller is a frequent seller or has an online evil-bay store cos they tend to be honest as they are affraid to get negative feedback and also Paypal is very safe and protects you as a buyer

Thanks bro looks like the Leica-like hood and UV filter does help with the contrast and colors... but still pale compare to my Leica so I pulled the saturation a bit for these shots as I shoot raw, NEX-7 raw didn't inherit by default the camera setting when using LR to import the photos unlike the Sony Apps it does include the came setting when viewing the raw files. so sadly I can't post JPEG that uses the cam setting as I use LR not Sony Apps to convert the RAW to JPEG
