Pictures from Nex-5N

Here some shots taken using Nex5N in Germany. All out of camera, w/o editing (except alignment).
This is a "learn as I use" trip, so still a bit of fumbling with the settings.

No flash used, but as usual, these are the best. Many trial and errors, and many more need editing as they are underexposed at night (in RAW)

P.S: Unable to load all here, so have to link to Picasa.

new to this sub forum, as I only bought the cam a month ago. Here is the outing that I shot with Nex5n and 16mm f2.8. In case you wonder why the color macam like that, I did cross processing.

Nex5N + 16mm is so compact, easy for me to roam around. The tilt screen is a big plus. did a few shot placing the cam above head.

always use a tripod! since nex is small and light, you dont need big tripod but it always help to have slightly heavier and sturdy tripod. I'm using a tripod that can take 8kg because i have dslr too. since your tripod is not tall enough, maybe you look for a taller one? Mass sale section has many that you can choose from

Thanks for advice! Learnt few new things again. :)

Took this yesterday.

Hi Guys,

Just wondering, do you install UV Filters on your lens? What value for money filters would you recommend to use as a protective layer?

Hoya HMC will be a good value for money filters

Personally, i don't bother using UV filters on my kit lens.

Back to basics... You need a tripod or something else to straighten your horizon. Also, DO NOT shoot landscapes at f/3.6 - how do you expect to get sufficient DOF? You should be at f/8-f/11. Again, use a tripod, or some other stable base. Use aperture mode if you want to, let the camera do the metering.

Nope, too much of a pain to remove them when you want to shoot at night. (I remove them to prevent flare from reflections on the UV filter)

This is a test shot from my 7th floor window with my old Pentax M 200f4 wide open, ISO 400, 1/250 handheld. The purpose of this photo is to show the amazing ability of the NEX 5N to accept many old legacy lenses and make them not only as good as but sometimes, much better in terms of IQ, usability and value than more expensive AF lenses. My Pentax M 200f4 is only SGD 130 and the Pentax to NEX adapter with a special tripod mount, is SGD 70 . This was shot in raw and converted to jpec in ps as I always do, no cropping, and one can even see the dirt and rain drops on the cars.

Pentax M 200f4 wide open at ISO 400, 1/250. This lens is about the same size as the 18-55 kit lens.
