"5-6sec" is this consider the "time lapse" shooting? cuz ur fireworks looks like a flower n mine looks like fireworks

Nope, its long exposure. Time lapse is when you, for example, take a picture every 5 minutes for a long time. Used to show things like flowers opening, seeds sprouting, etc

oh thanks for the guide... i notice alot of dslr photographers like to use this long expose to take fireworks.. which made the fireworks look like flower

The fireworks in your pics, as you say, look like fireworks, so is nice ! :)

But I think the background is a little noisy... you pushed the ISO up ?

I think people do long exposures, so that (a) they get the 'flower pattern' and (b) the background buildings are well-exposed with minimal noise. Actually looking at my pics, the backgrounds are a little under-exposed. Have seen much nicer pics than mine before. Go check out the reportage section in the gallery section.

Ya, i pushed the iso to donno 3200 or 6400 if not the buildings will be devour by the darkness. I know to take fireworks photo ISO has to b irs minimal.

like I say, the pic turned out pretty ok, except for the noise at the background... maybe next time, someone will invent a sensor that gives you clean pics at ISO 6400... we will see more firework pics like the one you have here...

alternatively, has anyone shot fireworks at ISO 1600 with a Noktor F0.95 at infinity before ? shd turn out 'fireworks'-like fireworks pics like Lunarken's, minus the background noise ! :D

Hi all, for Sony Nex5N which lens will you normally bring for travelling in HK? Given that I had 3 lens SEL1855, SEL50f18, SEL16f28. I really too lazy to keep changing my lens while I am on holiday.

if you're going for general shots from Landscape to Streets to Casual shots... then the 1855 will be the one. keep the 16F28 for the night shots when you need the better low-light capabilities (supposing you need the wide-angle for portraits with background, which in this case, the FOV on the 50mm might be too tight for places where it's cramped).
