Random shot for the day with AF-D 17-35 F2.8
How is the manual focus turning on the AFD lenses? I am also interested to try some, especially the 85f1.8 D as I have difficulty in finding a good 105f2.5 ais. Nice shot!
Focusing on all manual lens, Pentax/AF-D/Canon FD is a lot easier with touch screen and peaking modes. Most of the time in the bright sun, cant really see but relied on the peaking lines to gauge. This picture was shot in pop color setting, no retouch at all.

I understand as I am also using NEX 5N, but my question is about the Nikon AF-D lenses and whether the manual focusing is as precise as manual focusing lenses. Most manual focusing throw and dampeness of AF lenses are different, so how do you feel about AF-D lenses as compared to manual focus lens?
If I'm reading your question correctly. The AF-D focussing or "damping" manually is a little loose compared to regular MF lens, However, the rotational action is smooth and easy to manupulate to get a precise focus, I have the 28-105 which is use as a standby 1:2 macro which works well. The only problem for the 17-35 on the nex with a loose AF damping is, the zoom gets shifted by the palm when you trying to focus cause of the strange posture of holding the body and the lens

#1 - No trip to Taiwan is complete without a visit to the famous 101 building (1/400s F8, 18-55 kit lens) .
#2 - Taipei city skyline from the 12th floor dinning area of the Riverview Hotel (1/125s F5.6, SAL35f1.8 with LA-EA2).
#3 The weather was like one minute clear blue sky, next minute storm clouds everywhere and then a beautiful sky like this (1/2000s F2.8, SAL35f1.8 with LA-EA2).
#4 - Took this shot in one of their cultural centre (1/800 f5.6, 18-55 kit lens)

We spent one night at the Hot springs hotels area and went for an early morning walk in the wilderness.
#5 - Lots of lovely wild bamboo growth (1/40s f5.6, 18-55 kit lens)
#6 - ...and the creepy crawlies that goes with it. They're huge, this one's larger than my whole hand (1/10s f5.6, 18-55 kit lens)
