Picture from EOS M

it is targeted to people who knows more about the brand instead of the technical details and comparison of other brands' offering.

Maybe not at serious users. Casual users who just want take photos with good quality pictures at a compact size.

They were just aiming that EOS user will bite cos it is EOS compatible... with Sony A7 having adapters, and also, seeing how Fuji implement their ILC... I was totally disappointed....

Fuji launched their X with a good camera.... and have everyone talking and raving about it...

Canon launched EOS M with a half hearted attempt.... and most users were complaining about it AF..... sadly.. performance was not as ideal cos the expectation were high....

Saw that Canon.sg is selling the EOS M with 22mm and adapter at $559 only... so will it be cheaper in shop???:think:

Now, I think mostly no stock except the EOS M kit with 18-55mm.....

still so expensive?
I bought my EOS M kit from the USA for USD299 and plus shipping etc still under $500 SGD. But honestly, the only good thing about the EOS M is it's size..no other mirrorless is that small. The AF is hopeless but ok if you're not in a hurry. The IQ is identical to a 70D which isn't bad at all.
But yea, Sony has upped their game and everyone is playing catch up..Canon still isn't convinced mirrorless is the future...too bad for them...
I waited for them for a long time but eventually seeing how they are so clueless about mirrorless...i switched to Sony A7r. It was a heavy decision since i had to sell my 5d3 and ALL my L lenses.
Sony isn't fantastic either...their biggest downfall is the lack of lenses (not talking adapters)..i find myself shooting much less because i don't have any lenses to shoot with it. The 24-70 can't come any sooner for me..
Did i regret switching???Definately NOT..i love the IQ of the A7r and the wifi app is fantastic as well..

I was looking for a compact Mirrorless... and waited for the EOS M.... now, I am still thinking APSC or FF... and if EOS M price fall further... I am thinking.... as I afraid EOS M will just die off too.... as they might realized the EVIL FF from Sony is too strong... and they dump the system, just as FD lens users got dumped.... plus, EOS M... nothing new is out so it is worryingly if they will continue with it.....

Canon seems to worry more about cannibalizing on their on DSLR range... But I think they better wake up soon.. cos when they wake up... more people will be Sony FF EVIL already!!! Nikon seems to have fallen behind a bit.... but Canon sensor... still gotta catch up with Sony... Nikon is using Sony sensor too right?? Canon Dynamic range is lesser....

I am thinking of the A7 actually, as a compact... and also, I am hooked onto Zeiss lens... and no need for any touching up vs Canon lens.... Have a ZE 50mm f1.4, and love the color..........

I read some reviews and some users highlighted the durability of Sony Alpha as an issue... so I am a bit concern about this.... most Canon can last for years.....

Photo taken by canon EOS M with 18-35 1.8 Sigma lens.

As the TS had mentioned he prefer share the wonderful photos instead of complaining.

Heres my simple shot. From the little wonderful camera.

I apologize for my complaints...

I think the image is great... just concern of the path for EOS M since no new launch and too quiet....

Hi all,

I've been a silent reader these while and I enjoyed looking the photos that was taken by the EOS M, however I'm still rather new to the cam which i bought couple months back. For a beginner which mode would actually be recommended to play around with? (besides Auto LOL) I understand that 1 or 2 of it is rather tricky for a beginner to start off with , would appreciate some input :bsmilie:

Maybe start with those P, Av or Tv stuffs??

hello. i am considering getting the eos m body to pair with my lens.

I read that there is no jack for the wire shutter remote. How do you guys do long exposure in bulb mode?

Like press and hold the shutter button? I want to avoid movement especially for long exposure. :dunno:

From the thread, http://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/3535515

Seems like the only option is to use Canon rc 1/5/6 to fire it wirelessly..

IC. thank you for the reply. Will probably find a 2nd hand set to try and wait for M2 to arrive. I read from reviews M2 has wifi control for shutter via the canon app. Focus speed seem to be faster than the v2 firmware for M.

Use a RC-6. in bulb mode, press the button on the rc-6 to open the shutter, press it again to close the shutter. During the exposure a timer displays the time elapsed on the LCD screen. A remote cable limits your distance and also may disturb the camera if you accidentally shake the cable. RC-6 works just fine.

kit 2 price is now just over $500. Can order from Paris**** and they will have it ready the next day. (note: i'm not related to this shop).

The 22mm f2 is shockingly good, sharp from wide open.

At this price, why bother with G1X or G16. there are no other current-generation APS-C sensor + lens package at this price.

People complaining about the EOS-M AF after firmware v2 are barking up the wrong tree. They would be happier looking for a camera with phase detection TTL AF, 50ms shutter lag, 100ms viewfinder blackout time, i.e. 5D3, 1D4, 1DX, maybe even a Nikon D4, D800E, etc. This camera is fantastic for travel, landscape, general people photography etc.

thank you for the tip on using the RC6. Would the remote need to be pointing at the IR on the front of the camera when pressing shutter button? I am just concerned the IR might not pick up that effectively if i stand behind the camera when using it.

Im looking at kit 2 with the the ef adaptor to be used with my ef/efs lens. Was quoted between $480-500 from some of the shops. But i am likely to getting it from canon via the privilege purchase program at about $450.

I agree that the pricing make the G1X & G16 look a bad buy....

It is the compactness that I am looking and also, the price... Is this the lowerest price mirrorless at the moment?
