ya I know about the macro shot ..
I do occasionally take some macro shot of the pc hardware ..
if it offer 10cm macro shot I will definally buy it withouth question.

I can see that A40 offer me most of my current need now (since I'm not pro and will nv be one :D ) .. only the macro shot ..
However, I never try the close up filter yet .. heard it's good ... anyone tried on A20 or A40 ?

Just curious... is a close-up lens the same as a wide angle lens?

no, it's not the same ..
and close-up lens is different from close up filter.
close-up filter is cheaper , eg ~$20 where close-up lens is a lot more than that

copland,

Need to find out the noise problem with you ..
I discovered my A20 develop noise after about 100+ shots during a wedding ..the camera was hot b'cos of intensive use ( & flash)...

Did you experience the same thing with A40 ?
like the camera heat up after heavy usage ?

Not sure whether I will use my A40 that intensely. Will let you know. Did shot abt 50 pics this evening and not noise noticeble.

Agree taking macro is more difficult than on my Fuji2800z. Here are 2 pics for your evaluation.

Decided to take a trip to Changi Airport to have dinner with my wife. Tried to take some shots there.

While taking the MRT to Changi. Tried to take one of those train moving pics. No easy with people staring at you and also quite crowded.

Again nice pics coming from A40. I realise the low light shots are always excellently metered. And I can almost taste the salmon!!;p Great color and texture.

This camera is proving more value for money with every sample pic.

If only you can get the lens adapter + closeup filter and show us the effects of improved macro. ;)

haha same here.. 2040 is too big for me.. i think 330 is good in terms of size and quality... 2040 and a40 uses AA battery and that is a big plus.

if 330 cost only a little more then a40 then its very tempting.. full metal body! how sweet is that.. :)

If you are just looking for something portable with the abililty to take nite shots and not looking at dabbling deeper into photography, 330 would be a good choice if it is less than $600.

I will stick to my A40 in the meantime :). Suggest further discussion on this be on a separate thread. :)Actually someone started an Ixus 330 thread here

A40 users out there... post! post! post! (Megaweb, got frog pic for this :))

went to ONE Fullerton for dinner and proceeded to experiment with nite shots. Had fun but was disappointed when I was reviewing the pics at home. Lesson learnt... vvvvv impt to bring along a tripod for nite shots.

Well, here goes...

p.s. my skill is still very lousy. I just wanted to share with interested party on the nite shot capability of the A40. So please bear with me if the pics do get on your nerves :)
