Example of Nite Shot Taken with Canon A40

Boat Quay With Star Filter

BoatQuay_StarFilter.jpg

The above pic was taken with the Hoya Cross Screen (Star) Filter placed by hand in front of the lens of the A40, coz the tube adapter for the A40 was not available when I bought the camera. Thus, there's a little blurring in the pic caused by the shaking of my hands during the long exposure (2 secs.. If I remember correctly...).

i tot the A40 share the same tude adaptor with A20 ?

clear shots, but a bit noisy. Still better compared to the olympus series of cameras, but a bit too noisy for a Canon camera. And there a streak of white in the sky part of the second pic, what's that huh?

I do agree its kinda noisy. It could be due to the long exposure time needed for the shot, 8 and 10 seconds. Maybe the G2 will be able to do this much better.

this was what I took on C2040, a bit overexposed

compared with this on A40, nice, but NR makes the picture less sharp

Maybe A40 is his "mistress". He remains faithful to his G2 :).

p.s. Vivre - nice shots.

I've got a Black Canon G2... Bought the A40 for my gf, so she won't be bored when she goes out with me to take pictures.

Here another nightshot, taken in woodlands. At the UK funfair..

Hmm... any advice on how to use the A40 optimally? E.g. with regards to night shots ( what settings to use eh? :dunno: ) and close up....

These 2 flowers are the rare few that were not that blur!! =)

For nightshots, switch to [M] and tweak the exposure time to 2 seconds or greater.. depending on how far away your subject is and how brightly lit it is too.

For shooting marco sujects, switching to [P] mode, aim the viewfinder middle to where the centre of your subject is. Half depress the shot button and let the AF take over to refocus, after which, fully depress for the final take. (you will need to have a steady hand, if not the subject will be blur).

Just wondering if my exposure is right a not. My pictures seems a tab too dark for my personal point of view.
