Hi, welcome to the nex family. If u are using La-ea2 for the Sigma or Tokina (Alpha mount), they should be able to auto focus like a DSLT.

Noted with thanks bro.

But d weight. Hmm. Unless u wanna mount on tripod most of d time u taking landscape pics?

Hi bro, I am at the infant stage of using this kind of system as I had been using a P&S before getting the NEX. Now with lens options opened, I am exploring what I can do. One of the reason for getting the NEX to a DSLR for me is the weight factor, especially while travelling overseas. Using it locally, I am fine.

Reason for wanting a wide angle lens is because I do not want to be limited by the kit lens when taking architectural photos while travelling overseas. I can move back at times to get a shot I want, but sometimes there is also a limit on how much I can move back.

I guess there is no choice in this case that I will either need to live with the kit lens or get a wide angle (that is heavier) to cater to my wants right?

Welcome to the poison club :bsmilie:

As mentioned before, kit lens if used between f8 to f11 should be pretty sharp. If u need wider aperture and sharpness too, guessed u need something like sigma 19mm f2.8 and it's pretty light too. If u got more money to spend, then probably a wider focal length by Voigtlander or Zeiss or even Leica will be good, dunno abt their weight though... ;)

There aren't ultra wide on nex system currently. You will need adapters to mount other ultrawide zoom. I am surprised that 18mm is not wide enough. The tokina 11-16 f2.8 will meet your needs probably. But plus the cost of the lea2 adapter, it will set you back by 1.4k.

But still cheaper than the rangefinder glasses.

Getting expensive glasses will not make our pictures better. While it's exciting to discuss and play with a Zeiss, leica , cv. Do explore the limits of What we can do with our existing lenses first before pursuing the sharpest lens in town.

Or if you don't mind the distortion, the Samyang 8mm F2.8 is an excellent fisheye for the NEX system.
