Everyone has already switched to K-1 Super. I need to go back to my DIY corner to play with these toys to prevent the teardrops from falling! Taken with K-3 and DA 15/4.

I could not do the wood work myself, off course. Other that, yes, I built all myself.

I made all the amplifiers myself' (included drilled all holes to mount the tubes); I modified the DAC (with the apple on top) myself. I designed the speakers boxes myself (included shapes, volume, internal bracing ...) and also measured and tweaked the system myself! ;) ... He he ...

power la chipvn! so u do mounting and soldering of all the components to the circuit board yourself?

anyway so many amplifiers? one amplifier for one genre of music? ;p

Ha ha, yes, built the amplifiers included arranging, mounting and soldering all the internal components as well, lah.

Each amplifier only take of a very narrow frequency range so this is the simple summary (if you really want to know):

My 2016 Simplified 4-ways Active System

1. Mac Mini mid 2011 running ChannelD Pure Music 3 as player and crossover control software
2. TC Electronic Studio Konnekt 48 which all output opamp have been replaced running as preamp, 4-way active crossover via Firewire 1394 protocol.
3. 845SE mono block amplifier driving JBL2235H for 20Hz-80Hz
4. 2A3SE amplifier driving Altec 414B for 80Hz-768Hz
5. 345SE amplifier driving Altec 288D + Altec 511E horn for 768Hz-8kHz
6. CV4055 PP amplifier driving Fostex T925 horn tweeter for 8kHz-20kHz

PS: will not divert this thread away from photo any further, I promised!

WOW Chip, you've some great sets of powerful tube amplifiers with humongous, earth-shaking loudspeakers that easily cost more'n a K1!!
can you show us your fantastic turntables too?

Well, the raw components price of the whole system cost me more than the launching price of the Pentax 645D (not to mentioned about the K-1) and it took me about 5 years to complete (through different phases) :)

I sold my modified Thorens TD-160mkII turntable and my DIY (do it yourself) the phono amp to a friend when I moved here to work. Now I only keep the system as above and switched to computer based sources. (to bad, can only power-up once a month when I came back home)

I used to have this set-up as my analog and digital sources:

The silver CD transport is the DIY one using Phillips famous CD-Pro2 pick-up mechanism
The DAC I use at that time is the DIY TD-1541A Single Crown or AD1865 swapping the DAC board and using the Amperex 7308 premium tubes as tube buffer stage.
The tube pre-amp I made at that time using famous Russian 6H30P-DR tubes
I modified the Thorens TD-160mkII turntable so that it could use the famous SME 3009 S2 non-improved tonearm to use with the Denon DL-103 MC cartridge

I did even go extreme to remove the plastic shell of the Denon DL-103 and glued the core on to a bass base to improve its sound signature.

This is room frequency response of my active system above (the yellow curve). Better than many Hi-end speakers in the market.

Ooppp sorry, too far off from the topic. I need to upload 1 photo using K-3 and the old Vivitar 55/2.8 Macro to go back on track:

I normally don't use flash for flower close-up shot. And if I use flash, you know that I will definitely use some type of DIY diffuser! ;)

Amazing. I have not seen this lens before. chipvn, if you are free, do post a picture of the lens. At least those of us who are not familiar will also get a chance to see it.
