The Pentax lenses are as good as any other there and has it unique way of rendering.

The sad thing is that when I look around on many forums, Pentax representation is so low that knowledge of what the lenses can offer is shrouded in hearsay/assumptions (often with negatives thrown in).
The smaller size than counterparts of the same lineage, the build quality, the good contrast and bold drawing style, all left unappreciated.

Pentax, got gold, also no one talk about it, until ppl think it is crxx. :D

So I keep on posting, and hopefully more will also do so.
And ppl will know that what you have is Gold.

Rexer, you can really do wonders with the sigma 150-500!! must learn from you...

Tks bro,i like to experiment with different lens setting and get the most out of them .k3 is really a capable body, wonder how the rumored ff will be like when k3 is already so well featured and able.

Agree bro!after playing around with other makes,i still prefer using my pentax gear and lens, the unique pentax color is something i cannot find in other makes.

Thumbs up for jk and subatoyo...hope tomorrow outing i can last minute get green light....hahhaa

True that.. But I guess I'm looking for a smoother bokeh which you shots show unlike Ranchy's..

If by f/2, it's smooth, I can learn how to use it well, rather than the ZK50/2 MP, which has a pretty smooth bokeh throughout.

The ZK50/1.4 is similar with our A50/1.4, but magical once f/2 onwards. Wondering how our 50/1.4 is..

Is your 3rd shot at f/2?

the Bokeh vs sharpness had been a age old nemesis. if u want sharp image bokeh will be bad. good bokeh. image wont be that sharp. the focal length plays a part also. that why 'portraits' lens is from 85 to 135mm. try the FA77 . u might like it

Wow as always, very nice shots of birding from Kengoh!!!

Thanks bro. :)

I agreee with you too.

Nice shots as usual Ken.

Yes, indeed, I have used so many brands before and handled enough of others that I don't own.
Pentax cameras are really well thought out in how it handles and flows with the photographic sequence of use.
Really little little stuffs, that won't come up in any review since most of them only talk about pixel peeping, and the like.

Pentax colors for most stuff are also punchy and pleasing.
(I only like Canon for skin tones, the rest, Pentax)

Then there are the lenses.
Well built, usually a size smaller than the competition, nice color o/p.
To me, I would ask anybody to just stay on with Pentax just for the lenses.
One can jump ship this, jump that (and I do see that happen yearly to half yealy for some folks on this forum), but the reality is that the Pentax lenses are as good as any out there and its just a lateral shift with some pros/cons to each brand lenses.
Thats why I see no point, and keep using some of the best lenses that are out there (which I already have).

Not to mention the community here.

Taken with the A50/1.2

Harnor bro,it is the person behind the camera that matters, but often than not,one tends to blame the camera when he cant get good picture.:`(

Ken,

You are the shifu, when it comes to using the Sigma 150 - 500.

Nice Pictures, as usual. :)

Gotta agree with your statement bro JK..

Taking a lead from you, if one has to jump, don't do lateral jump, go other camps only if you want FF.
Don't do so if you're gonna be shooting APSC size again.. :/

Edit: Nice captures with the Sony A7!

Pentax FA20/2.8 and Canon FD20/2.8 by jenkwang, on Flickr

"Pentax flange distance is longer, so it ends up to be bigger/longer."

BUZzzzz ...... (sound of buzzer)

WRONG!

I often hear this being the sweeping statement by internet theorists when mentioning Pentax lenses. (often those who never even handled a Pentax lens before and has pass on hearsay to hearsay)
So proof in the pudding is eating it.
FA20/2.8 and Canon FD20/2.8 SSC, both with adapters attached to make up the flange distance.
The Pentax is actually one size smaller too.
This is just one of the aspects that never gets listed as a pro in any review nowadays (all focused on test charts and numbers)

And this is not the only lens too.

Yes, that FA43/1.9 ltd is about the size of someone elses 40/2.8 (and its f1.9 not 2.8)
