I just realised that I never did AF adjustment for the Sigma. I did a +6 for the DA*16-50 and just did a +6 for the Sigma. Not good . . . My K7, K5, K30 did not even need AF adjustments . . .

Is this an inherent problem of the K3?

another test on my sigma AF 150-500

time to bring out your MZ-S, no such AF adjustment needed ;)

It is a tolerance match thing.
Can happen on one camera and not another (and its across brands) unless its CDAF based.
Some of my lenses need AF adj on my K5, but did not need them on my brother's K5.
These same lenses on my K30, some needed some other adjustment some no longer did.

So its just part and parcel of the cameras/system and the AF adj is there to help us adj ourselves, else always need to send to service center.

I had adjusted the DA*16-50 but did not do the Sigma and did not realise that it is focusing wrongly. So looks like I will have to test all my lenses to see if the rest need adjustments.

Long long time have not post. Over the weekend had a chance to watch some Ultimate Frisbee competition. Something very new and interesting for me.

Spot on!
Nice shot.
Interesting event too.
We should try to do some of these for an outing one of these days.

as JK say, there is a tolerance level..both the camera body and lens are set to within a factory tolerance level when they leave the factory..so far only my FA31 needed adjustment on my k-x...none of the lenses needed any adjustment on k3...

another thing to note that the focus and recompose method is not necessary the best method for tele lenses with wider aperture (esp the f2.8 or lower) as the depth of field could be too narrow and recomposing will change the focal plane especially shooting at an angle..it is still better to choose the focal point to AF and shoot..

think this article with the diagram might explain this better http://digital-photography-school.com/the-problem-with-the-focus-recompose-method/

I don't think it is an inherent problem. I am thinking maybe due to the bigger sensor which make the different which slight difference, the sharpness will be affected.

I also need to do adjustments for my K3 also. I never did any adjustments for all my previous cameras(K7,K5,K30 & K5iis).

I will go test test with the FA43/77. I adjusted until +6. Is that too much?

How much did you adjust to?

Felix...how many cameras do you have at one time? I thought you not buying K3..seems that you change your mind ;)

Good idea..First time for me. Not such how often such competition is held though.

Thanks...using a Tammy 70-200 on the K5 classic. Would have luv to try that with the Sigma HSM though.
