I used to have a copy. It have a nickname call plastic fanatic . It very light. Optics a little better then kit lens. The lens coating is quite old film type so it produce quite a bit of flare when u shoot into strong light. Some ppl will either love or hate that.

I actually carried 3 systems and 'simplified' version of the panosaurus
But no kids w/ me this time.
But I did Taiwan in Feb, K30, DA15ltd; FA31ltd; FA77ltd and its a really nice kit (there are lots of possible combis around that too that fit a small bag for Pentax)

I don't have an issue with carrying things even with the kids.
My only problems with travelling with kids is missing the best timings for scenic places and generally very limited window to shoot.
Eg.
Leave at 12pm > Lunch > Sleep at 3-5pm > Dinner ..... sightseeing? Shooting? can forget about it.

I'm not so concerned about the size and weight of the kit, but my daughter is still young enough to want to be carried. So now I'm reduced to shooting with one zoom 90% of the time and only changing to a longer lens on special occasions! haha can forget about primes for now.. but that FA85 is really an incredible lens! really fantastic shots with it.

City Veins

This was taken during yesterday's blue hour after the epic sunset. It is titled City Veins as the roads represented channels for essential traffic flow. Somehow, City Arteries or City Capillaries just sound weird.

The processing wasn't quite straightforward. The initial +1 and +2 EV were HDR-ed to control the blown roads on the shot of +2EV with the underexposed buildings of the +1EV. Pentax bodies tend to under-expose hence the base exposure is +2 in here.

This is then blended separately with another 2 exposures (one for Fairfield Methodist Church and one for all other building lights) to control the highlights for the building signboards. The resulting two images were then further blended and then a further blend with the +2EV (IIRC) and some curve adjustments were done to increase the brightness.
