Nice works!

This is a 3 vertical frames panorama of 4 exposures for each frame manually blended. The sunset yesterday was pretty good till the storm clouds came in.

First time at Duxton. Now I know why people say there's too many railings! Nonetheless this is the best I could come up with under the circumstances.

I was trying out taking a star trail photo with the K-5s built in interval shooting and set the camera to take a 30s exposure every 32 seconds. What I didn't know was that if the camera is still writing to the card when the next shot is due, it will skip it. The camera takes more than 2 seconds to complete writing each file so it took one 30s exposure every 64 seconds instead (under normal shooting you can still take photos while its writing, till the buffer is full).

The oversight resulted in the dots instead of continuous trails. Oh well, lesson learnt: you need to find out how long it takes for the camera to write to the SD card! I was using a 20mb/s card and it took about 4 seconds.

Normally when I use interval shooting, I will stay around for 5-10 shots to make sure it is shooting at the rate I preset. Maybe you can do that before leaving it alone. Can re-adjust interval time immediately if it is not right.

I suppose you have turned off the noise reduction (high iso & slow shutter)? If so, the SD card's speed is most probably the problem for the 4 sec.

Anyway the photo is still nice! I hope to do some star trail photos soon. but North Star is just 1 degree above horizon in singapore, won't be able to do the "full circle" star trails :(

Yeah high ISO NR was off. I just assumed the shutter noises every half minute meant that everything was fine. Also because I was shooting RAW, so the file sizes were bigger. I didn't try jpg but I'm assuming it won't have the same problem. I've been meaning to try again, but its hard to jio people to trek out to the countryside to sit in the dark, especially when the temperatures are getting colder now!

I turned off both high iso and slow shutter NR to improve the speed. Also I will add in more buffer time if I hear the shutter triggered off almost immediately after the previous shot. Pls keep jio-ing if the night skies at your side is great. Don't waste it. It is so damn hard to wait for a clear and cloudless night in Singapore.

River Rush

Manually blended 45 exposures in two sets, one set for boat trails (11 exposures) and another set for laser show (34 exposures) with minimal tonal adjustments. The whole processing took 1.5 hours to complete, which is not something common for me.

Must celebrate good weather after a mini-rainy season with many many pew pew lasers!

Wah KAOZ~!

What kind of mad skill is that? LOL! 45 exposures.... Salute you man....

PS: So.. What was the merged file size before exporting? :bsmilie::bsmilie:

Aha, they've finished it. I should probably head back soon. :)
