Seem like it's a Pentaxian Indonesia weekend . WK was at Batam Island , Ben and group at Jakata while I venture into Bintan Island.

Been missing for action for close to close to 3 weeks ? Ha . Grab a Tour package by Insing.com to Bintan Island . Brought my wife along but got to leave my kid with my parent . It was a short trip of 2day 1 night (1.5 day to be exact) . Didn't manage to shoot much as we miss the sunset when we arrive at the resort .

Haven't finish process the photo. Will try to finish in this 2 weeks time.

1# Kick start with one of my fav photo for the trip . It was a big rock located just 200m walk away from my room . Morning 4.30am (indo time) , wake up and prepare for sunrise . I guess the local will sure find us crazy for waking up so early and enter the water. Manage to find this Rock isolated from the others and decided to take this photo. I call it

2# Water condition at Bintan island is much better compare to Singapore ..... Compare to our changi beach , the sand ripple is much more visible

3# I usually don't like to shoot landscape after 8am or before 6pm .... But sometime I am left with no choice ....

However the cloud is pretty interesting ... Anyone spot the dragon ?

sure Ben,
i think the photoshot cost is very low, but your "accommodations" is "rather high" hahaha...

Nice Artika you have, maybe you have the low angle shots?

Thanks, still need more PP skill. Will check if have low angle shot this evening. If no, can go Jkt again.:)

Yo yo .... receive yr page bro . Ha . #5 is great as usual. (same thing .... I don't think I will be able to compose this shot with the 8-16) But the one I really love this time round is #1 .... Power sia . Seem like you add another great sigma lens to yr collection

haha, thanks man. the 30/1.4 is great but the focusing can be quite inconsistent at times. Btw, your shots make me wanna go to bintan right now. lol

Something from Tampines Eco Green this morning. Unfortunately the weather wasn't very cooperative. Decided to try something completely new (to me at least). Any feedback at all will be greatly appreciated as always.

haha you're right in that its a reflection. But the "tree" (more like a shriveled up woody thing) is actually at the bottom, with the reflection on top. I purposely inverted the shot to emphasize the interesting reflection of the foliage behind, which looks kind of misty because the water is actually kind of murky! The point where the plant touches the water is actually somewhere in the middle of the image.

had a lot of trouble isolating the plant from the thick foliage behind as I didn't have a large aperture lens with me - shot it with the DAL 55-300. Converting to black & white plus bumping up the contrast seemed to do the trick. Brushed on some polarisation & further contrast boost in the reflection area to further enhance the reflection. Decided to invert the shot cos I thought it actually resembled a mysterious looking tree extending its roots into the earth. I actually quite like the end result but most people think its quite bleh I think! haha

cheers!

thanks for the explanation. i was wondering how come the reflection at the bottom was so much clearer than when the top is misty. anyway i really like it, feel like fine art to me and the contrast between the top misty and the bottom is clear and sharp makes it an interesting juxtaposition.

thanks for sharing!
