I am a newbie and I am obsessed with FIF (fish in flight) that lasts merely a second. Like you I used AF-S. Lately I prefer AF-C and changed the setting to FPS priority. You might want to try taking pictures of jumping Tarpon (megalops atlanticus) while you are in Florida. Quite addictive I must say ;)

I would use AF-C too if I was waiting and planning for a BIF shot, but this was really impromptu...

FIF? I think I know which ones you're talking about, but those are near impossible! By the time I hear them jump out of the water and turn the camera towards that direction (esp. with a 300mm), they're back in the water already, don't even talk about getting a focus lock.... If you have some trick, must share!

been feeling spacious lately?

Here's another few shots of this Orange Bellied Flowerpeckers:

Waited patiently for this moment and luckily I got it but I missed shooting a rare mini woodpecker who drop by at the rear pond.

Those landscapes just make me want to take my camera out to try shooting these places too.
Beautiful!

Took me quite a bit of pondering over which 21-24-28mm to get. There was the DA21ltd, Sigma 24/28 f1.8 and the FA*24.
In fact the K24/2.8 was already 'good enough' except that it isn't AF for one handed shots.
Didn't take an immediate liking to this lens. Large, rather heavy and the silver finishing is a pain to keep from scratches. Hate the hood.

But I think I am slowing coming to terms with this lens.
Changed out the hood to a standard and to me better looking black metal one.

Can't complain about the o/p.
