Photos taken by Pentax cameras for tech. discussion - Season I

nice series. will be good if can show the face instead of the back of the model subject. like the composition & colour of the 2nd photograph.

got face.. but not sure if it's appropriate to post or not (exp from EDMW) :bsmilie:

I just love this shot... the soft tones and the backlighting just conveys a nostalgic mood like no other. This is my favourite kind of shot and I have to congratulate you on recreating the kind of image that renowned photographer David Hamilton is famous for.

thanks for the compliment, this is sort of a lucky shot
btw, wasnt David Hamilton accused as producer of child porn?

Wow bro, these shots really meant for the advert for Women's bag! impressive shot.

I'm quite weak with ppl shot

thanks!
i'm still learning also...

Rest & Relax.

this is one of my fave shots..

Good shots!
Its got a soft warm aura. Again something much better than many in the Portraits and Poses section :D

i adjusted a little WB in PP to give it that extra warmth

That was the criticism that was directed at him no doubt at his subject matter but I don't actually believe they have any basis. What is unique about his photographic style is the ability to convey a dreaminess and nostalgia and mood. Anyway nice effort.

yea, labeling is 1 thing, and who he really is - another

Just develop 1 roll of 110 film taken on Pentax 110 Auto Super.

The scan was abit grainy though but still like the low-fi feeling.

Had to go prone position as the camera is so small and had difficulties focusing it. End up with a dirty shirt and a cramped neck haha

Same shot but trying to frame it via a TLR (blackbird, think i mess up the focusing)

trying out the new K5 body with the DFA100mm. manual focus and shot in jpeg (2MB) at ISO 400 and post processed with picasa. photo cropped 40%.

BTW, NR off in-cam. although the bug is a tad OOF, i am still amazed at the amount of details in its body which is difficult from a dark-coloured subject like this shield bug with the K20D body.

Both were taken with K-5, vivitar 105 + kenko 1.4x TC for added magnification.

#1) |ISO: 80 | Exposure: 1/100 sec | Aperture: 11.0 | No Cropping |

Hi guys need some advice. For landscapes like these, is CA unavoidable in such high contrast situations? Wondering if there are any filters/pp techniques that can help minimise the fringing:

K5 FA35/2 f3.2 1/125 ISO 200
Metz48 attached with large ~10"x6" bounce card (M mode; 1/8 pwr) on top left
Vignetting added in PP.

I might want to do up a larger bounce card that can fit my large camera bag and see how much mileage I can get. Probably a 12"x10" (that would be good for head shots)

Unavoidable, CA is a function of the lens design and the glass used. Usually stopping down the lens will help by lessening the amount of CA. No filters can help you, but it should be really easy to pp away the blue/red fringes in the pics, just need to use a software that has the CA function built in.

Thanks! Shall stop down and sharpen up my pp skills where necessary!

Shot earlier before going for pentax gathering in funan kopitiam.

vivitar 105 with 31 mm extension tube, non PP out from camera jpg, monopod with dual flashlights.M mode.

Trying out the K5's Electronic Level to assist in leveling the horizon while composing shots.
Not sure if it's accurate?
K5 users who have tried this Electronic level, do you find it accurate?

K7 has the Electronic Level too.
But hardly use it as I rely more on the grids of the focusing screen. If pic tilted, I used arbitary angle adjustment with PS.

Today nothing to do..go to Singapore Philatelic Museum shoot shoot..All shots in ISO 1600 (Cannot use flash) so just play play with the 35mm lenses....

I didn't know K7 has it too? I upgraded from Kx :sweatsm:
I use the same method (arbitary angle adjustment) on the earlier versions of CS, now CS5 just click the <Straighten> button will do. ;)

Nice shot from benchan21 from the K5 AFC. Its so much faster in AF than all predecessors model. K5 still no stock so I have to shoot with K10:cool:

Monopod, manual mode, dual flash and monopod. vivitar 105 with tube, non cropping. Bump highlights with Picassa.

original from K10d non PP and non cropped. I like the colors and the BG here, ie greenish.
