Nice photos :). I'm from Vietnam myself and it's interesting to see the photos of all the familiar places in my country being taken by foreigners haha :P. I actually recognize most of the street photos and Hanoi xD, it's a popular hangout spots for youngsters like myself :D. And if you're ever coming back to Vietnam, note that if you're going to buy food or souvenirs, you should try to get a local to buy for you because stalls usually quote prices anything from 5 to 20 times more than usual when they know you're foreigners. Food in Vietnam is supposed to be a lot cheaper in Singapore especially common street food like the grilled dried cuttle fish you mentioned

I saw these clothes hanging but somehow not in order. So made an effort to line it up and hoping no one spotted me what's this weird man doing.

What caught me was the glowing lights shining thru the clothes. Can someone verify are this custome called Ao Dai ? ....[/IMG]

Hahaha... divinemoment.... you're darn good, man! Either you go and Ga-jiao people's chair or table.
Even people's colourful clothes on the clothes line you also Ga-jiao-ed! HAHAHA...
Er... it doesn't look like Ao Dai to me leh...

Nice, stevepow! I like the expansive feel of the water and the limestone pinnacles behind.

Thank you, LowLights. So many fish lah, eagle head lah, man's nose lah... wah lau - I don't even know what I have seen.... hahaha....!

Fish no. Sotong got.

Yup, sotong got six. Score was Tommy 5 / Acrux 1.
Only fish we saw was on the dinner table!! :)

Haha... divinemoment, chubbykei... yupe!
You guys are so ON-THE-BALL that evening!
I was getting a little tired already, but yet you were out there catching sotong!

Oh yah, divinemoment, thank you for your compliments.
Maybe I can consider a mid-career switch to food photography... hehehe....!
Since we are on the subject of food, fish and sotong, I thought this may be a good time to slot in
a Montage of a series of record shots of our Dinner at Cha Ca in Hanoi on the 2nd night.

I am sure all of us remember walking a few streets away from our hotel at Bat Su Street to Cha Ca Street
for the reputable steam-plate stir-fried Vietnamese fish.
It was 130,000 VND for a set for three persons.

  • #69 - we seemed to be always climbing up or down every where we went in Vietnam. Here is Jim climbing up the steep staircase at Cha Ca La Vong.
  • #70 & #72 - Food photography is contagious. Adrian was the one who introduced me to it during his Malacca Food Photography trip.
And here we can see that almost EVERYONE was shooting the food during dinner.
  • #73 - Mint leaf seemed to be a staple side-dish. We ate it from the restaurant table all the way to the road side stalls at Sapa! Hahaha...
  • #74 - Aaaaahhhhh.... so shook! This evening, Stevepow, Jim, George and acpical finally found their Heineken!
  • #75 - mee hoon to be stir-fried into the fish sauce (her lou), the chilly oil and the vegetable. As divinemoment rightfully said,
I wallop the whole lot - even stevepow's share also kena eaten up by me!

I agree. A lot of foreigners get cheated because they do not speak tieng viet. A common trick among those vegetable vendors is to let u carry their bamboo poles for a photo. They even lend u their conical hats. After that they will demand for money.
