T R A V E L O G U E ~ Day 6 - Vietnam-China Border at Lao Cai

For travellers to Lao Cai (again, a reminder: pronounced Lao KAI. Not to be confused with the Lao Chai Village.)
it would be good to make a short trip to the Highway Bridge between Yunan, China and Vietnam.
This bridge crosses the Hong He (Red River) that splits the Vietnam-China border.
If anything, at least one could give oneself a pat on the shoulder and say:
"Hey, I have been to the Vietnam-China border right at the northern tip of Vietnam...!"

After our Bac Ha Market and Ban Pho Village, our minibus took the 1 hour drive to Lao Cai again to allow us the honour of viewing this scene.
At around 4:00pm, we arrived.

limwhow #175
Our first glimpse of Hekou 河口 in Yunnan 云南, China.
Honestly, I never thought I would see this sight in my life.
Fancy looking afar towards China from the northern border of Vietnam...
I could imagine how much history this border had seen.

Just to behold this politically and historically significant sight, it is well worth the 1 hour drive from Sapa to Lao Cai.

I believe my sentiment of awe was echoed by many amongst our team.
Because I could see, gradually, one by one the team members making their way slowly down the steps to lean against the railing along the bank.
Cameras were raised and aims taken at the far bank.
Imagine if I were a People's Republic of China's resident over at the other side,
every day there would be hordes of awed foreigners taking aim at me...

"Errr.... own people...??"

I spied Acpical stealthily approaching a perceived enemy subject hiding under some bushes.
Slowly, the predator shooter inched his way closer, contorting his body in all possible fashion...
...until the subject is just within sight and within the shooting range of his weapon.

Acpical will post his photo of this technically highly difficult shot.
Right, Apic?

I liked this very much. A casual street shot yet captivating. Brillant colours

Only about SGD 22.00 mah. Wah, buying the whole cow cheaper than a small peice of steak. I assume should be 3,000,000 dong?

Thank you divinemoment!:bsmilie:
Oops, price quoted too low!:what::embrass:
Hahahaahaa...

Sigh... sometimes I am too kan cheong.
In my eagerness to help SereneXMM adjust her tripod head, I injured her finger and
I let go accidentally of the quick release plate, and her camera just went ploppity-plop on the floor.

"Our Canon cameras are drop-proof, smash-proof, Sapa-proof, Juizhaigou-proof,
not to mention weather-proof, sun-proof. I checked already. Your camera is in tip top shape.
Just come and collect."

Oh no, you caught a Limwhow bug! I've been searching high and low for the best anti-dote and cure for his virus:sweat:. He's seriously and highly poisoned. Diagnosis: ClupSnap-sitis, very contagious too!
