Someone told me that photography is a form of exercise, mentally and physically.
I personally think that it is quite true.

Mentally:

1. We need to think of composition and angles when taking a photo etc.
2. We have to think how the photo can tell a story or does it have a meaning behind it.

Physically:

1. We move around taking photos.
2. Walking/combing through various places in 1 day. Some even spend time from dawn to dusk.

So guys, what's you take on photography is an exercise?
;)

oh, mental, yes, definitely.

physical, it depends. if you sit around in air con studio shooting xmm, then no way to convince yourself it is going to be good exercise, unless you consider nosebleeding and sweating profusely because of your fantasies.. exercise.

landscapes and macros can be very taxing though. especially when you base your travels around a landscape-priority. i spend quite a lot of time walking to places that i want to shoot and see, instead of just being content with the usual touristy easy-access places.

Physically especially when you want to try a different angle!

Sometime i feel like getting inside a XMM's stomach and show her intestines. All shots to the death so must try something differnt ;)

Mentally decide on which lens(es) to bring along and composition etc... Physically lugging your stuff around since you couldn't make up your mind. Oh and I bring a bottle of water around with me... another 1L. Does that count?

Shooting XMMs is an exercise for the eyes. :bsmilie:

walk alot,sweat alot.

Thats physical excercise for me.:)

Mentally is of course letting your creative juices flow ;)

Sometimes, I think mentally can be more siong than physically.

Physical Exercise -> Definitely if you carry an SLR and all your Zoom lenses! :)

Mental -> Thinking of composition, WB etc.

Mental def alot... physical.. well.. carrying the camera itself is a form of excercise alr!!

Me and a friend walked all over town area shooting... in the end shoot until physically and mentally exhuasted... so i vote for both... LOL...

1. Subject arrives >>> Brain juice flows
2. Camera up....takes a shot
3. Camera down...previews shot
4. Subject leaves >>> Brain juice flows to find next target

Repeat step 1 to 4 for whole afternoon.

Once muscles start to develop, go to dpreview, BBB, upgrade to f2.8 zooms. Then repeat step 1 to 4 for next day.

Results: Hand muscle big big, brain muscle big big.

Yes. You are right.

The heaviest thing we carry these days is the tripods. :)

Ya, sounds like excuse for photographers who refuse to exercise but try to bluff themselves that they exercised a lot already. :bsmilie:

Hmm.. well theres only jaywalking during the F1 race that comes to mind at the moment.
