MILF - Moro Islamic Liberation Front, quite a terror group. So what's up with them? You wanna be their official photographer to take picture of their hostage?
If you shoot at guys, peepz think you're a gay..
If you shoot at mature ladies, peepz think you're a (M(eye)LF-fan).. (don't ask me what that means, plz)
If you shoot at old men and ladies...(hmmm I suppose that's normal huh? :bsmilie
Haiz, it's tough being a street photographer these days... :bsmilie:

I think the best way is to increase your chances is to first introduce your name, where you're from (like from what organization or freelance) and state why you want to take a photo
i think generally singaporean guys and girls are alike. Most would usually shy away from the stranger's camera. it's probably a mental thingie when u think that girls are harder to approach. I mean, we are guys afterall and it probably stems from the fact that we don't want the opposite sex to think we are some sort of perv.
I cover a fair share of guys and girls on the streets and have never run into any problem. And if you'd really like to do true blue street photography, permissions is usually not required. Of course, approaching the subjects afterwards to show them the images and offer to send them a copy is not necessarily a bad thing to do, it is not really a must too.
If you are looking at doing street portraits, like what bro dannysantos is doing, suck it up and really go out there and start asking ppl on the streets. You'd be surprised how many will actually pose for u if you do it professionally (male or female alike).
It is important to show sincerity when you approach your subject. It is after all a mutual understanding between the 2 parties.
Besides, having a clear idea of why you are shooting them (i.e. you have a particular concept you're working on and the person you are approaching fits what you're searching for) as explaining your intention will further show that you are serious about what you're doing and this builds trust with your subject.
