Hi

We're looking for experienced photographers who are good in fashion & mood shots, and also good at playing with lighting, to help revamp afew models' portfolio.
TFCD, or a token sum.
Please email your portfolio (a must) to epitomeofbeauty@gmail.com and your contact number.
The models themselves will then decide on who to work with. We regret only those will be contacted. Please understand.

Clients who're currently looking for models/talents for the upcoming IT show are free to contact us at the same email too.

Thank you.

To be fair, maybe you can show photos of the mentioned photos and let us about their height etc.

Rather than just letting the models choose the photogers, perhaps the photogers should also have the prerogative to choose if he wants to shoot the models.

No offence. I'm not arguing on who has the upper hand on this matter, but I am at least arguing for dignity for both.

Sorry, I really meant to say 'photos of the mentioned models'.

Yes, we understand. but i do stand firm on our decision. because we're not organising any shoot, we dont see a need to post it here.

In addition, we never requested the photographers to post their portfolio and contact details here publicly. so in our opinion, it's rather fair. they're not publicising their 'product', neither are we.

I only have a few models who want to update their portfolio. Although i only mentioned that the girls will choose who they want to work with, we will also send him/her compcards of the girls for them to choose or agree. I believe both parties do not want to waste each other's time. hence, dignity will be retained. We certainly won't treat the photographers like displayed meat to be sold.

hope this helps to give you a better picture.

thanks for expressing concern.

sounds fair to me.

it's a TFCD or it can be considered a paid job as the TS mentioned 'token sum'.

if anyone is keen and confident of their own ability, pls email the TS.

It sounds pretty fair. Except that tfcd also means that if the photos are used for any form of publicity for monetary gains then its more like a advertising shoot rite? So better be careful and get both sides to sign an agreement on this first ya? :)

yes chris, thanks for reminding me.

the tfcd, in our words, is just an exchange of services of the model and the quality photographs of the photographer. by agreeing for a tfcd, the model allows her photos to be used for the photographer's personal portfolio, but not for any form of usage for the media. whereas the model is allowed to use it for her portfolio, which includes the usage for her compcards where she sends to prospective clients.
hope this helps. =)

Does your caucasian and pan asian models need any test shoots? If they need? I can help u ask some of the fashion photographers.

Thanks for clarifying. Hope you'll find the photogers you want. Upz for you.

Why only caucasian and pan asian models?

The reasons are as follows:

* Some designers are only willing to loan out clothes for TFCD with Pan Asians and Caucasians
* Some top photographers prefer to TFCD with them as they enhance their folio
* Some top makeup/hair prefer pan asians/caucasians for test shoots

Its very hard for budding fashion photographers to break into the editorial magazine and commercial market (be it perfume, apparel shoots) without having a folio full of Pan Asian and Caucasian models. Friends who had shown portfolio of local models/talents to magazine editors, art directors from Ad agencies were sometimes given this reply. They were told to brush up their folio with Pan Asians/Caucasians, top local models, work with better Makeup/hair and work with Fashion stylists (shoot principal brand clothes such as Chanel, Gucci, Prada, YSL etc). Hence its not surprising that when they progress beyond a certain stage, they are less willing to shoot local girls unless these girls are their friends or paid them a token sum for their services.

Hope you can understand. More than 60% of magazine spreads and commercial jobs uses Pan Asians/Caucasians in Singapore. Its also becoming very hard for local models to make it here but there are still many new fashion photographers who do not mind working with local models/talents.

Weird logic from those companies/designers. ........the top buyers for all those high end brands are the Asians! Just look at the shops in HK, Japan.......compared to the shops in Europe. (In Italy and other countries there are some bargain shops now, selling last seasons products)

Perhaps, those asians want to look like Westerners? and this is why ads are showing those western models? Or are they better built for the shoots?

The Caucasians and Pan Asian has features that are more prominent and a face shape that is more suitable for "edgy" type of fashion shoots. However, there are a lot of Asian supermodels that have made it in the fashion industry too. With the emergence of models from Central Asia, Middle east and Northern asia like Mongolia, its already proven that Asians do have prominent features and face shape similar to Caucasians. To many local designers, they prefer to have portfolio shots of edgy girls as their portfolio looks enhanced, especially important when they show these pictures to oversea buyers from the states, europe and australia. The Singapore fashion market is very small, most local designers need to expand overseas to those countries which are primarily Caucasian or Pan asian dominated. Of course , there are still some local designers whom dont mind helping local models in their pursuit of excellence and improve their folio by loaning them clothes.

Hope this has clarify why the local designers prefer to loan to Caucasians/ Pan Asians.

If you need a photographer I can help. ;)

good photographers charge a good fee for their shoot. good models better get good photographers to enhance their portfolio. budding photographers also need good models for their portfolio. Unless models are deemed suitably photogenic, even budding photographers might not want to do the TFCD (except abosolute first timers). it's not easy to understand how this fishing for TFCD photographers thingy works.

wow nice debate on my thread- not being sarcastic.

it's obvious how the modelling industry favours pan-asians and caucasians these years. the only time the asians are favoured are like, for CNY mood and stuff?
it's quite sad to realise that the market's like that. we asians should support our asians. to be honest, pan-asians and caucasians have the headstart because they have beautifully-high nose bridges. but hey, actually, nobody said a high nose bridge was all that's needed to classify one a beauty.
Given the chance, our locals can shine as much as we can. But labels often do not give the opportunity. you cant really blame agencies for promoting pan-asians and caucasians ONLY. because they bring the moo-lahs in. seriously, sometimes i see ads of pan-asians, i dont see why our asians are not able to do so. we may find most of them even prettier, more appealing. it's like, are you sure you're demanding pan-asians for the right reasons, or that you just want to appear like you know the market?
therefore, for those who're willing to give my locals a push, drop me a mail!

Agree with what you say. It is very true that pan asian and "ang moh" are more in demand. Even in the film insudtry. If you do a typical story line that you'd probably see in the "ang moh" context film, and use asians for it. NO WAY IT WILL WORK properlyin the international arena. But if you used asians to endorse asian products, then it has a chance of working. Just like the stereotype that chinese must speak chinese or sth that sounds chinses as long as far from english. :bsmilie:

Ups for you.
