Photographers needed for Orientation Camp

Two to three photographers from the College of Engineering of NTU are needed for Camp Insinyur 2004 (the Combined Engineering Freshmen Orientation Camp) to be held in early July (tentatively held in the week starting 5th July or 12th July).

Photographers must preferably own a film SLR camera, be from sch of CEE, EEE, MPE, Year One or Year Two. They will be awarded 7 ECA points for their effort in academic year 2004/2005.

Interested people, pls email Mervyn at mervlam@starhub.net.sg

we are selling photos to freshies... unless there is a good deal (ie. good pricing for printing digital photos in huge volume), i will consider using digital also.

I've totally switched to digital already.
Snap as many as the photographers like, then choose the best 1s to print.
So wun miss a single precious moment just becoz of film.

But then... Any photographers taking up these types of job must remember 1 rule
- The photos must be sellable! So artistic abstract photos are out. & also the more people in the photo the better. Means more people can buy. :D

After looking at the photos from last year, and having SUCH a headache choosing them for print. I would have volunteered my serivces. But then so sorry, Merv, I will probably be on holiday in Okinawa during that week!

Going OT... :nono:

anyway :D ... another reason i'm truly afraid of is the seemingly incriminate machine-gun type of shooting... then i will have a huge headache either choosing what to print or where to get $$ to print them all (yes, we have limited budget!)

yap... sellable photos only. I will gladly :hammer: you if u produce those abstract arty-farty kind of photos. :D

wat abt Non-NTU photographers? Willing to take photos wif a small fee. No wasting of film......

I had been the official photographer (from NUS) for four student camps before and just like to share some thoughts here.

Pros:
1) Enjoy the freedom of running around.
2) No need to follow instructions.
3) Can even choose when to shoot and when not to shoot........hee hee.

Cons:
1) Carry heavy equipments for the entire duration of the camp is no joke.
2) Must take care of equipments all the time.
3) Incur some expenses as always cos I never charge more than the minimum developing fees.

When I shoot, I always have this notion in mind that I want to take pictures which people would want to buy. But it seems like I seldom manage to find the right pictures (including pictures of pretty female participants, fun actions and great expressions etc) which people would want to buy. No doubt, group photos still sell best but a lot still depends on buyers' budget. :)

Just my two cents' worth.
