nice place ... looks like a more authentic conservation project compared to the wierd looking China Square in Singapore ... if you get the chance, find your way into some of those long shophouses with multiple courtyards, very dramatic

The previous conservation policy was more akin to total sterilization, and unfortunately China Square and Chinatown were the victims.

I thought they did a much better job with Sultan Mosque/Arab Street.

yah Kampong Glam was quite good, though i would've wished they work out some rental and ownership program to benefit businesses and trades that existed before the conservation.

China Square was sterilized and superficially dressed up to be sold with a wierd identity that do not even belong to that place ... oh well :bsmilie:

Good morning from....not Penang but good old Belgium.

Just landed last night.

I love Europe in Summer cos the evening light stays quite late.

Will stay a week do to some personnal formalities (just bought a house ).
