Yeah that's why I'm thinking of getting a PDA phone ( my phone is going bonkers and I'm thinking of getting a pda anyway ), but for the free wireless connection, I think in residental ares like Hougang it is going to be a problem. Now sometimes can't even get strong signal from starhub and m1 that why I'm thinking of getting the M1 wireless connection. For $38 /- I get 1.8MB of downloan speed and unlimited access, free connection device and only have to commit for 6 mths. It's working on the GSM system and so far those on the normal wireless package have no complain.
That's why need advice from gurus like YYK to help me
hahah there's some truth in everything just how much is it. i haven't been to the dopod service centre cos nothing spoilt yet. *touchwood* I've used O2 XDA previously and I say their after sales support sucks big time as well. basically the service sector in sg sux big time so i guess it applies for all the brands. ;p
i think 818 only have 1 version.. the 818pro.. i just lazy to type the word 'pro'.
ya got wifi.. but surf net just to kill time and batt life while waiting for kids or something ok lah.. cos the screen is small don't expect the same surfing pleasure as a laptop or PC.

actually have to let you know in advance something about PDA phones, the input is via touch screen. The 818pro has a touchscreen 'keypad' so 1 hand operation is still possible, but for the other PDA phones without a keyboard, you have to enter text by writing on the screen like a pda.. 1 hand operation is quite impossible.
For the M1 wireless, you need special phones that are HSPDA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access) or commonly called 3.5G ready and the 818pro don't come with this feature. Although it is based on GSM network, you need special phones to access this feature.
Oh sucks ;p ........... heard that O2 and Dopod are from the same agent I think it is SLS/SIS in Bukit Merah, hope that I'm wrong ;p
yeah, the speed is also much slower, I just need to check my emails sometimes when I'm out of the office.

Oh no !!..... this is bad, very bad.
no lah. HTC used to R&D and manufacture the phones for O2 who just stamp their names on it.. (OEM) then later on HTC went by the back door and came out with their own brand as dopod. :bsmilie: Only the O2 atom onwards was developed by O2

At the end of the day, the equipment is just the equipment. Like cameras, if you know the limitations, you can get the most out of it. Else it'll be like the regular posts about N-sux, C-sux, F-up and O-m-g also have.. :bsmilie:
