sell your car and downgrade to smaller one, old or new. With or without paying cash upfront?

I'm guessing you are not asking about how much is your current car worth (i.e. the info at www.lta.gov.sg).

This is what I did:

Assume current car:
Buy at $120K, scrap/resell at $50K after five years, so ($120K-$50K)/5=$14K/year "loss".

New car:
Buy at $80K, scrap/resell at $30K after estimated five years, so ($80K-$30K)/5=$10K/yr "loss".

Therefore $14K-$10K=$4K/year "saved" in depreciation is the imputed value of your decision. If projected over the five year period, then it will be total of $20K "saved".

Hi all, been really busy & had a nasty cold on Mon, ok now.

Jopel: Sorry to hear that your son is ill, hope & pray that your son will be ok.

Wai: Do you still want the EC-D if it's <= HK$200? Will check this thread again at 3pm to confirm. Thanks for the TC-80N3 update (and to YQT also)!

Venom22: The Speedlite 430 is about HK$2300, but won't buy as I may not see your response.

Sjourn: Miscomm: I found the shop, but not the Seagull. This is the shop opposite TC with all the Canon boxes in the window. I don't think the Canon stuff there is "water". Also found this post with more shops in HK. Welcome back to S'pore in a few days and best regards if I don't see you.

Yamlo: Take care of Ryan. Do you have an air purifier in his room?

Phillip: :embrass: Read too fast, ok, keep saving! But if snapping zomming aircrafts is your thing, then 20D's 5fps may be more suitable rather than 350D's 3fps, maybe?

Have ah!! Seems like no working leh... put him in the air con room and the air purifier on the whole nite still will like that..but not everyday lah... everyday i will die manzzzz..... i suspect is the weather lah.. if that day the air is back, he will started to cough loh....poor thing leh... see him cough like want to cough the lung out like that and he can't sleep well also..... partly he got sensitive nose loh... started to bring him to see nose specialist, hope it will help...:(

Thanks for the highlight.....

Let's say I bought my car for 97K and now can sell for 60K after 2 years, I want to trade in for a new car that cost 65K...do I still have to pay up front and is it worth it? Sorry arh...I newbie in car talk.

BM-4 is too expansive, forget it

DK-20 is not the one that you have, it is the one on a D70s
go to the link for a picture

Depend on the outstanding car loan you have to pay off. If the outstanding car loan is e.g. 50% left, or about $50K, then you can use the $10K ($60K-$50K) diff as the "downpayment".

If there is none, usually the dealer will ask you to take a min loan on the new car so that they can earn a bit of commission from the bank loan, otherwise there might be a top up.

If it is the latter, you might want to compare the interest on the min loan amount vs the top up charge and see if it's worth it.

Sjourn: I was in the TY bldg where TC is again today, but looks like they have moved. the shelves were empty and only posters left. Couldn't see where they were moving to.

got it liao?

check to make sure it is the grid one...cos there are a few different focusing screen

About the car

easier to go to the showroom and ask them to cauculate while you drink coffee
if you end up paying taking a lower amount of loan, then you will be paying less
per month for installment.

Keep in mind that your COE cost per year is very much lower.

Anyone have any news about Jopel's son? Hope he's better.
