yyk: another set up you may want to try.
1) use a white background ( B/G ) with a white table top. One even light on B/G.
2) Set up tracing paper on the left of cam ( about 160 cm ). Tilt the product to face the tracing paper. Make sure light is fairly even.
3) Get a reflector on the left of product.
Control B/G light so that scale platform not wash out.
Control tracing paper light so that scale front surface not wash out.
Reflector on the left of product is to light up the shadow area.

point to note when shooting anything reflective is to use reflected light or soft lights to light up the reflective surface, if not by the time you light up the other non reflective surface ie; panel, buttons, etc the reflective surface most lightly will be wash out.
