Hi,

I've searched the forum for threads relating to photo albums (physical, not online) and it seems that if one wants to be creative, the majority recommend sticking on non acid free paper as opposed to the traditional sticky types with flaps (which was my original option).

Does anyone know where to get Black non acid free paper? And also those konata corners for photos?

If you have any other feasible alternatives, would appreciate greatly if you could share them with me too. I saw my fren's album in Europe with tracing paper in between, looks great too but not sure expensive or not and where to get.

Thanks! :)

non acid free..... = acid

acid free = no acid

.... what are you asking for?

I'm sure she means acid-free.

You can get it from that paper shop in Citylink. Their stuff is acid-free. I bought their black paper and vellum paper (translucent) separately to create my own album/booklet. They also sell the photo corners.

Actually, there are 2 shops in Citylink. "Bookbinders" has their paper made in Sweden (more expensive), "Prints" makes it locally. Prints also has stores in Paragon (2nd or 3rd level - between paragon and the extension) and Centrepoint Shopping Centre.

Or you could try Spotlight (but they have less variety).

If you want pretty acid-free patterned papers (used for scrapbooking), you can check out 'Creative Hands' in Ngee Ann City (4th floor, near the childrens clothing stores). Actually, theres quite a few other places, so let me know if you're really interested.

Okie, okie... I think I know what's she's refering to...

I got mine from Book Binders at City Link Mall (opp. Sintel Shop)...

There's another one also in City Link Mall, somewhere near the exit to One Raffles Link... there's more variety in this shop... I can't remember the name of it though...

They sell acid-free photo corners too... but albums r not too cheap hor... :)

you can try Arts friend at bras basah, got some black non acid albums there, transparent corners also available, which I prefer from those konata is selling

Thanks so much really everyone! Sorry for the confusion...I was actually quoting from a thread I read which stated "Non acid free paper"...I was really confused by that too.

Will go check it out...so many places! My workplace is Bugis so the Citylink and Bras Basah suggestion very good. Budget is of concern to me so I don't think can afford the Binders :) but thanks really!

u can get spray from Arts Friend to protect ya paper from acid.

I used to be a volunteer at Heritage Conservation Centre under NHB, and all of their material are all archival friendly.

Here's a list of their suppliers, you may be interested to check it out with them. Not sure of the pricings though.

Pardon me but what's the difference between the "acid-free" album

Traditional sticky albums are NOT acid-free. They are extremely acidic/corosive to photos. That's why most of my baby photos have since faded. Acid-free simply means it doesn't contain the acidity that is most harmful to photos.

Not sure if they make acid-free sticky albums yet though...

I just went Arts friend today and they told me they don't have any acid free albums...only acid free paper but the ones I checked out don't look thick enough like those I saw in Prints. However the price of the bound albums at Prints quite ex (about $50++ for a square album with tracing paper in between). Anyone got any other suggestion? I have about 400 photos and would like to stick them into bound (can be ready made or I bind them myself) black acid free paper. Thanks!

The other day when I was at Arts Friend, I noticed some black ring bound journals (near the counter). I figured this must be what simonsng was talking about. It didn't say acid-free anywhere on the journal, so I asked one of the guys working there, and he said that they are acid-free. I said, how do you know, and he replied, this brand always makes acid-free. So I don't really know if they are or not, but I decided not to take my chances...

anyway, hope my pm to you is of some help. Let me know if you need those websites...

Thanks shortcake for your pm. Actually I saw those albums near the counter too. They are ringbound and quite inexpensive (<$30) but the guys at the info counter said no, they don't have acid free bound notebooks. So think will check out more online resources like azone which canoised suggested...:)
