If do, we have 3 cars including FengWei's, that means we have 12 pax. Not sure if he will bring along his little precious for the trip.:)

Mine is company one so cannot go out of Singapore =P

Just remember about the Auto-Pass. Does anyone knows if can purchase before Malaysian immigration?

You can purchase it at the immigration counter toll booth. Touch-n-go card. If not, can pay cash also.

Okay, let's venture across the border for October 2009 outing.

Date: Saturday, October 24th, 2009
Time: 8.00am
Meeting Point: Open car park behing Bukit Gombak MRT station.

Itinerary:
1) Cross to Johor by 2nd Link. (avoid Woodsland checkpoint)
2) Kota Tinggi waterfall. (had not been there for many years, hope water not dried up):bsmilie:
3) Desaru.
4) Costal fishing town and seafood meal
5) Home Sweet Home.

Going:
1) Ben (car has 2 pax vacanies)
2) FengWei
3) Werkgg
4) Baracus?

Just sharing some personal experience. On Sat morning, the traffic at the checkpoint will be quite heavy during this hour. At times, you need about 1 hour to cross over to JB.

You need to drive about 2 hours non-stop to reach Kota Tinggi. Another hour from Kota Tinggi to reach Desaru and about half an hour to reach the fishing town (Sungei Ringgit) for seafood.

About half of the journey will be single traffic lane. Over taking is done by cutting across the opposite lane. Better have some experience driver around. Worst if the traffics are blocked by lorry or truck in front, you speed might reduce to about 50 to 60km/h. Need to factor extra time for traveling. Do have more rest the night before the journey.

There is nothing much around Kota Tinggi (only waterfall) and Desaru (seaside). I suggest you guys can head straight to the fishing village (Sungei Ringgit) and spend the time there with seafood lunch. So you need not rush around the different locations. Try to return before the sky turn dark. There is no street light along the stretch of single lane road and you will be driving in total darkness.

If you are planning to drive to Desaru/Sungai Ringgit, I would suggest taking the ferry from Changi Ferry Terminal. Less traveling and much faster than driving the long way round from JB. You can either drive in which case you won't need to take the land transfer from the Tg. Belungkor Ferry Terminal on the Malaysian side. Quite a drive from Tg. Belungkor to Sungai Ringgit or Desaru. Used to go to Sebana Cove for golfing in the past (just love the golf course).

Thanks for your suggestions on the destinations.
Since it is a free and easy short trip, we can decide along the way as we have the freedom of mobility. We can go to Pengarang besides Sungei Ringgit.

About safety driving, like overtaking in single lane or no street lights at night, I am not sure about the others’ experience and skill, however, can guide them on safety tips, group driving discipline etc.

Anyway, since the 80s, have rode and drove in both day & night as well as under extreme weather condition to (Kota Tinggi or Desaru not consider long distance driving) Malacca, Port Dickson, Fraser Hill, Maxwell Hill, Ipoh Hot Spring, Genting Highland, Cameron Highland, Penang for cycling rally (10 hours with 3 R&R stops), Kuantan (Rantau Abang) and of course to KL many times etc.:)

Thanks for the info.
The last time I drove to Malaysia for long distance trip was in June and was using my wife's Touch n Go card. Forgot to get one for myself during that trip.

Never tried Bak Kut Teh, most ppl go for the famous seafood stall (its at the junction and has a Channel U foodie program ad). The butter lobsters are relatively cheap there. But I've always find the stall quite ya-ya if you don't order expensive items and they don't serve pork (Chinese stall).

enjoy!
