I am not a Pentax user, but I have seen images taken with this lens. Yes... it is a wonderful lens for portraits.

Congrats, I saw that FA 43 there when i was there.
I saw only 1 piece on display when i was there before knyghtfall bought it. Anyway can check with them.

The FA 50mm f/1.4 and a few other lenses are easily available now at several shops. Just search the recent posts. Give the shops a call or go down in person. Obviously there will be walk-in customers and tourists buying, so if you take your time the stock might disappear off the shelves. I bought mine all within a period of 5 minutes.

Orient Photo has the original Pentax rectangular 50mm plastic lens hood (49mm) for the 50mm. I ordered one through them and they brought in 2 pieces. Very trick looking, and it comes with a nice pouch. Those on a budget look elsewhere.

Thanks istDes and Creampuff. I think I got the last copy from MS Color, Cathay and OP were out of stock when I checked. Cheesed off with OP when they quoted me a super high price to order in. Will post the price in the megathread
Enjoying the lens by the way.. =) i managed to get my hands on a PK - EOS adaptor and am trying out some lens on a 350D.. no i'm not switching camps, just that I have ready access to a 350d so can use it sometimes, tho MZ-3's still my favourite.. tho am keeping eyes out for the K20D like everyone else here.
