Pentax SMC FA 50mm f/1.4 Lens

I do find the Red a bit Pinkish. but maybe its ok for some.

FA50mm 1.4 now at $546!? well, not surprise since that lens is like hot cakes same as 55-300mm. I bought my FA50mm from CP Peninsula. It was last set also and higher price than previous SLR R and Manly quoted.

Though I find that we are to blame for this price hike. When someone posted 50mm 1.4 is great, so many people wanted it till no stock and the price went up again, then same for 55-300, also no stock till now. lol.

Then everyone selling off their 50-200mm like pisang goreng in BnS. hahaha.

Islandwide sold out for the 50 F1.4. No stock expected in the near time frame. Cheapest price $520 at Cathay. Highest $699 at MS Color. Now going to Sim Lim to ask around and see if there are any stock at those not so well known shops.

MSC price can be no good if you just call and ask. $699 is impossible. Might as well get a 2nd hand 43ltd (oops.. did I just pump up its price?? )
Getting too excited over it will just make you buy the lens at bad prices.
There are so many older MF 50mm alternatives.
MHO, is not to play into the hands of the current situation and set a precedent for prices.

2nd hand FA43 is higher than $699 now. I sold mine for $600 last year... :sweat:

Dunno why everyone falling over themselves to get the FA 50mm f/1.4..., must be lens of the month or something like that... :bsmilie:
At current local prices, I simply find it hard to justify buying it. Better to go with FA 43mm Limited or maybe even the "all-can do" DA 35mm Macro or FA 35mm. If really like this focal length, then save up some more for DA* 55mm.

If die, die must buy, then buying a used one overseas or online makes a helluva lot more sense. I remember paying not more than S$350 for all of the three brand new copies I once had, so to me S$546 or whatever is like carrot chop territory. :bigeyes:
Maybe wait for SG dollar to rise and Yen to fall so import price hopefully lower but since got so many prepared to cough up at current pricing, I think that's a fat hope. :bsmilie:
Alternative is A 50mm f/1.4 still very reasonable on eBay...

I didn't get attached to it much. Anyway it was a special price for a special Pentaxian. He sold me his Sigma 10-20 for cheap, so I returned him the favour. It's it good hands now and seeing action in East Timor.

Let me start the complain how bad my FA 50 is....it is totally horrible....I got wack by the bunch of girls I try to take at a chalet simply because pimples and blemish can be clearly seen in the pictures.....

Get a MIJ one. I think its the only FA limited that you can still find MIJ. In fact, I have not quite heard of a MIV FA43. :dunno:

my FA43 is MIV..
honestly its still tack sharp...no gripes from me yet..QC is still maintained
